please can everyone read!!!

In some places around the country, women are not offered smear tests until they are over 25 - this is not good enough!! Cancer has no time frame and can strike at ANY time, not just once someone hits 25!!!

We have 6 months to get as many signatures on this petition as possible - the more the better! Please please please please sign it
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/smeartests/

AND PLEASE REMEMBER, ONCE YOU SIGN YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL - YOU MUST CLICK THE LINK ON YOUR EMAIL TO CONFIRM YOUR SIGNATURE ON THE PETITION, ITS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!

Come on ladies, we can change this!!!

We have all heard the news about Jade Goody being diagnosed with cervical cancer. Since then, there have been more sories break that women in their 20's have been diagnosed with cervical cancer - yet shockingly, many doctors - mine included - refuse to give smear tests to women under the age of 25, wether they are sexually active or not.
This needs sorting out!! Women should be smear tests from the age of 16, especially if they are sexully active

I will sign, we had this argument with my doctor years ago when I first started having problems as my mam had Cervical Cancer, so did her Mam and a number of women in the family. They said they wouldn't do anything for me until I was much older which I thought was rediculous.

Definately have my name on there.

The reason that women under 25 are refused smear tests (though I believe that if they are having problems they should be offered a smear) is because too many women under 25 were getting abnormal results - which was actually just their body maturing, evidently there was a negative effect on these women (fearing that they had cancer) and alot of NHS money spent on tests to be done several times to confirm that there wasn't anything wrong. Also women under 25 are less at risk that older women, according to the stats.

I thin 25 is the right age....BUT I think that if you request a smear test before you are called in for one, that it should be done.
