question re calorie counting (help from PTs or dietcians or anyone!)

This is a question for anyone who has experience of calorie counting

I am steadily losing 2lb a week counting calories but with the WW core principles.

is calorie deficit.......

total eaten - calories burned during exercise

or should basal metabolic rate be factored in??

eg

I have eaten 1500 cals today
burned about 800ish (power walked 5 miles, ran 5 miles)

I weigh 12st 4

is this 'deficit' too low for me to exist on??

maybe I am getting too hung up on numbers but I don't want my metabolism to get screwed up and grind to a halt!!

any advice would be welcomed
thanks in advance

Mrs H

Hold on and I'll work it out for you although if you say you're losing 2.5lbs a week, that's great and losing much more isn't a healthy way to lose it. You're doing really well.

Okay you probably burn around 1500calories a day just breathing. Add your 800 that you worked off so you get 2300 without factoring walking and housework and other exercise you do in daily life. If you eat 1500 calories thats a deficit of 800calories a day. It takes 3500calorie deficit to lose 1lb of fat I believe

So if you keep having a deficit of 800 everyday, you'll lose 1lb of fat every 4 or 5 days (probably a little less as i didn't factor in walking and being awake ;p as calories burned). I think it sounds fine to be honest
