Thrush in breasts

So I talked to my LC (lactation consultant) and she thinks I have thrush in my breasts but it's worse on the left breast. I'll see her again tomorrow. But i'm scared to pump the left breast because it hurts for a while after Also if I do have thrush that milk will be no good.. anyone else here ever have that? How did you know? How did you treat it? Just another thing to add my list of pains in the ass.... Seriously what else do I need to deal with... im trying to heal and everytime I feel better something else happens damnit!!!

Hi

No it's rubbish that your milk wont be any use. I had thrush in my breasts when I was breastfeeding but I could still feed her out of both breasts (just hurt like hell and felt like someone was putting red hot pins in them).

If it's deep in your breasts then you'll need more than a topical cream - I was prescribed fluconzanole tablets which cleared it up within a couple of days.

Hiya

Your milk shouldn't be affected. When Frankie got thrush in her mouth, she was prescribed Daktarin oral gel and I was prescribed Daktarin cream for my nipples. Its a Miconazole Nitrate 2% cream that can also be used for ailments like nappy rash.
I could tell I had thrush because my nipples were really itchy and a littlr red. Feeding was also a little uncomfortable, and can become painful.

Hope it clears up soon!

You might want to look up a candida diet. It's a natural approach to getting rid of thrush. I did it for 4 months and it changed the way my entire body felt! I can't wait until I can go back on it, when the baby is born.
