So basically here's my situation; I'm currently not working due to losing my job and now I'm pregnant and desperately need somewhere to live. I'm living with my OH, his parents and brother at the moment but as my Jobseekers Allowance has been stopped I literally have no income whatsoever and my partner cannot afford to keep me. I have been looking for work but lets face it, no one will employ a pregnant woman I am looking into privately renting as the Council waiting list very very long! The thing is, most of the properties I'm looking at state 'No DSS / Employed only'. Is there any way to 'persuade' a lettings agency to accept me if I'm claiming benefits? I'd love to move somewhere with my OH but at the moment we just wouldn't be able to afford it ![]() Thanks in advance! Xx |

If you're under 25 you will have to wait till you have the baby till you can move. I'm a student nurse but my wages are topped up with housing benefit so strictly im dss but i applied for a flat that wasnt and the landlord called me and we had a chat and he said it was fine i just needed a gurantor (someone that agrees to pay if you cant) so that wasnt too bad. There are places that accept dss you could go to the cab and ask for ageneis that have a lot of these properties there is one in my area called keys and lee that specialise in dss so you could see if your area has one to. x |

My parents and OH have agreed to help me out with the deposit so I'll I have to concentrate on at the moment is actually finding a place which will accept DSS. Will definitely give the CAB a ring and see what they suggest |
