I was in my 1st year when I fell pregnant. I managed the 1st half of the year but baby was due in may so I had to postpone studies and join second semester the following jan with a whole new class. I found it pretty difficult juggling studies and a baby as I was studying fashion marketing and it was all full on practical work. I had to unfortuneately quit the course after 2 months of returning as I was diagnosed with PND and was getting no help with childcare and uni wouldn't help either, so I was leaving LO with a close friend in morning and picking LO up after 5 days a week. So I admire you going back to uni in 3rd year, just please make sure you have plenty of support and I hope it all goes well.

As far as the student loan situation. I was originally getting a good amount as I was classed as independent but my partners income wasn't considered as we had been living together less than 3 years and I was only working PT as I had been studying FT since I left school. But when baby came along I was classed as an adult independent as I was responible for an under 18. Also, they took partners income into account as I was living with him, so that could also affect your claim. But it opens up the possibility for claiming adult independent grant and childcare grant. But the best thing to do is get your student loans application in asap when you get it, so you can fully be comfortable and assurred that you will be financially stable before returning to uni.

All the best and I hope you get it all sorted

Thanks for your reply! Hopefully I will get a little extra then, when I last sent off for my loan I was living with my parents, now I live with my boyfriend. Gosh I hope so- my maternity pay is rubbish lol.
