Open university course


If i did an open university course would i have to stop claiming income support??

I think that if you're on income support, your course fees are paid for - and I don't think that affects your benefits. However, if you apply for other financial support i.e. you get money given to you for books, equipment, etc, then you would possibly have to declare that and it could affect your benefits. I'll look into it a little further, there might be something in my open university account that explains it.


This is the OU email address I was given and they may be able to answer your question; general-enquiries@open.ac.uk
They might take a couple of days to answer, with registration nearing the end for courses starting in the next month or so, but they do get back to you, and they're very nice people.
