Is anybody a Nail Technician?

I've been looking at doing a course in gel nails. Its something i would really love to do, and if i could make cash out of it - bonus!

The course i'm looking at is £292.64, so quite a lot of money, but as i said i really want to do it and its a learn from home, take your time course.

Is anyone on here a nail tech? Do you make much per customer? Is it hard to get into? Is it really worth it?

x

My cousin's cousin (lives in the same city as me, I went to high school with her brother) is an esthetician, she works at a spa and also does it at her house in her basement. She makes almost 100% profit on the services she offers at home as you can get membership to places (here we have CosmoProf) that really discount the supplies needed to offer various services.. and the supplies are paid off within a couple customers. (Supplies, not equipment)

Umm I don't know how much they make in salons but for her doing it at home this meant like $10/manicure, $25 for a mani/pedi.. she also offered massage, make up application (I remember it was $30 bridal, $25 full face and $15 for eyes)... umm waxing.. etc

Yea, somewhere on that website it says something about your costs being £3, and you can charge £30-40 per customer, so huge profit!
But can i go the whole way and start raking those customers in to make the profit or will i flop out and fail miserably lol

Local salons around here charge about £15-20 so unless salons around you are charging £30-40 you wouldn't really get away with charging so much more.

For a full set of Gel nails here in my town it is £35!
I was thinking i'd only charge about £20 anyway, its still a lot of profit and its cheaper than a shop so maybe i'd get more customers lol

They do cost a lot, which is why i do mine myself. Fair enough they are'nt salon standard..yet. But with the right training they could be!

& its not like its something that will just stop happening, there is always going to be people who *have* to have perfect nails

I'm not a nail tech but I can tell you how much the nail-bar on my street charges.

Full Set - £25
Infills - £18
Take Off - £10

The girl I go to seems to work all the hours God sends but she loves it and seems to make enough money
