Couple of BLW questions :)

So we started Molly off on some solids a few weeks ago - just some baby rice & porridge, not very consistant just to get her used to the action of moving food to the back of her mouth.

Today she has had all of her milk feeds as normal, but at tea time I agve her sweet potato, carrot & brocolli batons which is what we had with our dinner.

I know because she is only 5 months she cant have a lot right now, so just looking for some suggestions for first foods.

And I was also wondering about when to start introducing other meals? Breakfast, lunch, snacks etc?

xxx

Because she is only 5 months it is advised that you only try her with veg and fruit until she reaches 6 months. We started at 24 weeks and just stuck to that for the first 2 weeks, once she reached 6 months we offered whatever we was having.

What about some cucumber sticks, cauliflower, banana, tomato etc. The banana was really hard for LO to hold at first as it is really slippery but we kept trying and she did eventually get the hang of it.

Once LO got to 6 months her first foods apart from the fruit and veg were breadsticks, rice cakes and toast. We also started her with a preloaded spoon with the meals we were eating at this stage too.

As for when we started with other meals we just kind of went with whatever we felt at the time. We offered dinner 1st then about 6 weeks later Lunch and breakfast I think 4-6 weeks after that.

I've given it to LO since she was 6 months and she took to it great. The cucumber though she always ate around the skin, tmatoes though she has always loved.

Try apple sticks without the skin, maybe bite around the edges so it's easy to hold. LO loves that! He likes banana and kiwi too but struggles to hold it cos it's all slippy. His favourite is to hold my hand with both of his while I hold his food and then he's still in control of what he eats without struggling to hold it IYKWIM? Oh and he likes lettuce and tomato too, he has it in Nandos when we have our meals so that he doesn't grab at my chips.

I wouldn't boil anything like banana, the only fruit I did boil a couple of times in the beginning was apple.

Veg I would boil but not too much else it may go to mushy. Cucumber, tomatoes anything like that I just gave how it came.

TBH in the beginning you will find that alot of it doesn't get eaten and will either get mushed up or thrown on the floor. If you persevere though he will get better.
