full fat milk for 6 months old?

So my MIL came over today and was talking about her kids never drank formula ..they didnt have money so she used full fat milk from day 1 and they came ok and so on..

She is pushing me to try 3.25% milk on max and says it wont harm him ? is this true ? she said the rule of thumb is once they eat solids including meat and they do ok with that then you can give full fat milk ..I do give him yougurt and it dose not hurt his tummy ..

I'm tempted to try it out but if i do will it hurt him real bad ? or mabey just an upset tummy (not that i want that either)sorry i know ill get yelled at for wanting to try but so far shes been right

I thought id ask my mentors first lol

Why would you want to try it? What's the point? It's more expensive and could do harm?

It's not more expensive here, $5 for a gallon of milk; $20 for colton's formula (a can lasts 1.5-2 days).

I've never tried it though. I dont even know when to start.

Using Cows Milk this early is a no no, YOu can add it to cereal, and use it to mix other foods at 6 months but not as a drink x

I know that you can have full fat milk when in food or on cereal, but I always thought that as a stand alone drink it was not recommended til one as the digestive system in less than 1 year olds has trouble digesting it. I would not risk it if I were you.

I would not recommend mixing them , it isn't worth it to be honest. If he is happy on formula I would leave it with that. I have heard of people when their kid is one mixing them and gradually fazing out formula milk but that is because the baby was addicted to formula, lol.

It's not a digestion problem - it just doesn't contain all the nutrients that they need, including iron, which they will get from formula or breast milk.

So he probably wouldn't have any reaction to you giving it to him as a drink and using it in cooking (cereal etc) isn't a problem but you still need to give him formula until he's 1 x
