Leaving weaning till 7/8 months

We're going on holiday when baby is going to be 7 months old and I was wondering what are the pros/cons of leaving weaning till we get back. We're going to be going to Jamaica so will have a travel day lasting from 5am till about 8pm getting there and back. Feeding her won't be a problem is I don't start weaning as we're bfing so whip the boob out and we instantly stop the crying lol.
But then if we do start weaning what would we do about food in Jamaica? We are planning on BLW and not doing puree's so that does make is slightly eaiser but can we be sure the food is safe for baby?

Ive not looked into weaning yet apart from knowing we'd like to BLW so any advice would be great.
Thanks girls!

We BLW and Ruby didn't eat anything until 7.5 months anyway. She certainly wasn't eating to satisfy her hunger until about 8.5 months. The only thing I would say, is that at 7 months your baby will probably want to try the food you are eating!

We did traditional weaning, but Reuben did not eat any real amount until about 8 months.

Are you All inclusive? - if so, you will probably find there is a variaty of cooked veg etc that you would give. The water is safe to drink in Jamaica, so therefore any salads etc washed should be ok.

My best friend came to my wedding in Jamaica and took her 8 month old, she drank their milk in her bottle (which she loved as the restaurants always had warm milk for the coffees!) and ate the foods on offer.

I find that Sofia often eats a lot less when we're travelling anyway (unless we're in Italy and there's pasta on offer and then she'll steal the whole plate). And as others said, even if you start before it's unlikely your baby will be eating a lot by the time you go, and her main source of sustanance will most definitely still be milk.

Mog is seven months old, and she's tasted food, but has no real interest in eating it. We haven't pushed the issue, sort of BLW-lite, and she's happy to gnaw on food from my plate when she gets the chance but she's still perfectly happy getting all her nutrition from bottles. we might try giving her purees soon if she's still not interested but I'm assuming mogling will let me know if she's starving
