10 Month Olds Weaning Nightmare

Hi, I'm really at my wits end with the whole business of weaning. My little boy is 10 months old and seems to hate food.
We started weaning him at 6 months and he wouldn't take a spoon so we started a mixture of spoon feeding and baby led weaning. He would eat bits but never had a big appetite. He mainly eats bread, the occasional bit of cheese or fruit, and the odd spoons of pureed fruit and veg.
It has become a complete battle for me to get him to eat at every meal time and I don't know what to do.
He cries when I put him in his highchair and then sits whinging and sucking his thumb. He will then usually eat a bit of bread on between crying and whinging. I eventually give up and end the meal.
No one will take me seriously because he is just about managing to gain weight, and no one understands how weaning has taken over my life. It's so upsetting having to go through this battle 3 times a day every day.
I've tried everything I can think of to get him to eat and nothing works.
Please help a very stressed mum!

Coul you try changing the scenery a bit so he doesnt get upset as he knows whats coming next. Also you could try concentraing more on the fun side of food then him actually eating any

I've tried sitting him on my knee, going in different rooms, and having picnics around the house. He is less stressed if I do this but doesn't eat any more.
I know the problem is with me and not him - I know I need to relax but it's been going on so long that I really can't.
I just don't know how we got to this stage? And he can't possibly be getting all of the nutrition he needs.

I agree with Kala.
Personally I wouldn't bother trying to spoonfeed a 10 month old - it's not necessary. When he wants to eat he will feed himself.
I would not give any praise when he does eat, and show no negativity when he doesn't. Make eating a completely 'neutral' thing. If he wants to eat, then he eats, and if he doesn't, he doesn't.
Are you making normal meals and offering him some? Doing it this way (BLW) he WILL eat when he is ready.
My baby didn't take to eating as quickly as some others so I know it can be worrying / frustrating.

Aww I feel your pain, Theakston is rubbish at eating and hates being in the highchair. I would cook yourself baby friendly meals & try eating on the floor while he's crawling around and he might come and steal bits to be nosy. It's how I get Theakston to entertain the thought of breakfast

Thanks everyone for your support.
He only has 2 breastfeeds a day now because the HV told me to cut back on breastmilk to that he was hungry for food. And they aren'r very big ones at all so eh can't be getting much from that.
We have stopped trying to spoonfeed him for the last 2 days which has been a bit better, but he still only eats bread and cheese and only a tiny amount. We've always offered him a wide range of foods including what we usually eat but he turns his nose up at it.
Where is he getting his protein and his vitamins from?

i dont mean to sound cruel but could you not offer him bread or cheese so he is forced to choose something different rather then just what he is comfortable with?

I was also told that milk provides the majority of their nutrients until 12 months and eating until then is just for variety.

Could you try using bread and cheese as a base to get him into new things? Like cooking eggy bread with cheese on top, french bread pizzas, welsh rarebit etc.

I was an awfully fussy eater as a child as am still pretty fussy today - I'm funny about food textures rather than tastes and I used to hate my parents trying to hide stuff in mashed potato to get me to eat it, to this day I cannot eat large pieces of cooked onion or mushroom! Maybe its the feel of the food rather than the tastes?
