Getting LO to drink!

Ok, so Lo is 7 1/2 months, we've been BLW since 6 months and its going well (3 meals a day now, but I wouldn't say he eats THAT much). He's still have 4 7oz bottles a day too, but as I try to get rid of one I'm conscious of him not getting enough fluids.
At each meal I offer him a cup of water (tommee tippe basic free flow thing where the water comes out without sucking). He is great at holding it, he takes it from me and gets big mouth fulls of water...then just spits them out!!!
He really enjoys having the cups and "Drinking" but he doesn't seem to swallow any water!
Today I tried 2 things:
1. Giving him watered down juice - same thing happened
2. Giving him a bottle with water in - same thing!

I don't know what to try next!

My LO does exactly the same thing and is the same age as your LO. I offer water from a sippy cup after every meal, sometimes he swallows some but more often than not he spits it back out and finds it hilarious! I wouldn't worry and just keep offering it - he will drink if he's thirsty )

Glad I'm not the only one!
I keep telling myself that when he gets thirsty he will drink, but so far he hasn't! I'm really pleased how well he does holding the cup himself though if nothing else!

Adam is a couple of weeks younger and he does exactly the same, holds it himself, will appear to suck, make sucking sounds, all that - and then it spills out of his mouth and down his front. Frustrating! But I do agree, they will drink if they need it. I think the cup is a Tommee Tippee one, it's blue with a sippy thing that snaps up and down. Have to say, I'd really like a genuinely non-spill one, he seems to enjoy holding it and watching it drip out.

I tried him with a non spill one last night. Useless! He just held it in his mouth expecting the water to come out!!! I had to give him back his normal one and he did his usual spitting everywhere!lol!
I think I might try a doidi (sp?) cup. He wanted some of my tea earlier (don't condemn me!!!!lol!!) so I let him have a sip out of my cup, and he didn't spit any out. It might be because its not water, but I guess its worth a try.

Yeah try a Doidy. Ruby wouldn't drink from the sippy cup I bought (free flow one) but drinks really well from the Doidy at most meals.
