We had the same problem - follow your baby's lead she will eat the lumps when she is ready don't worry. Just keep trying her at regular intervals and one day she will eat it. Ethan still doesn't like very thick lumpy food but I'm sure he will get there one day!

Hey! Our LO's are roughly the same age and Ive just started Brandon on lumpier foods too!

Wot foods have you tried?! I have started with the baby star pasta and it went quite well! I have also used chicken and sweet potato puree'd down and the lumps are tiny with that!

What kind of food is it your giving her? xxx

tried the baby star pasta that gets spat out quite quickly!!! Ive tried the veg which she takes well as a puree sweet potato, carrot, brocolli etc But as soon as its a bit lumpy its a no go and she gets really wound up! I even bought a few jars to see if she would take tht was just as bad! She had some toast today and she ate some of that!

I would try offering 'whole' foods rather than making foods lumpy. My hubby is really funny with lumpy foods like mash, so I'm really keen to stop Earl being like this. I have been giving finger foods since day 1 to encourage him to chew and hopefully we'll just be able to phase out the smpooth purees rather than stages.

Just my thoughts.

have you tried mashing rather than giving the lumpy food to introduce a different texture? you can make it a slow transistion from there then, starting off with mashing quite a lot and then less and less. my little girl was quite fussy with lumps to start off with but would tolerate her faves being mashed like mashed bananna, so we just went form there and slowly started to offer different things. she doesnt really have that much stage 2 type food though she prefers to have a whole dinner like usif you know what i mean, o and she has always liked pinching food from our plates, could you introduce some foods to your LO like this

I had this problem with my LO and so i started to make the purees very thick so that she sort of had to chew them and then one day i tried her with lumps and she took them no problem. I always offer finger food as well like aimee-lou.
If you are giving her Jar food then i found baby rice a good thickener.
She will just get it though. the HV almost make you feel like they are never going to eat lumps if they don't eat them within two weeks!

I'd say give whole food too. You don't actually need to get them to accept lumpy purees at all, you could just offer normal food that you're eating, provided it's healthy obviously.

I hate sloppy, lumpy food, lumpy mash makes me shudder and I'm 28!

Hi there!
I had same problem too so started making food a little thicker and now my LO will eat it with lumps. I have also been offering snacks like crackerbread and pieces of fruit to get her used to chewing.
