When getting a new job when are you entitled for maternity leave - anyone know


i have to get a part time job and just wondered when you are entitled for maternity leave/pay - does it depend on the company

Anyone know

You have to have been with the company for at least 26 weeks when you are 15 weeks from giving birth. You are then entitled to 52 weeks leave, 39 of which you are entitled to SMP which is 90% pay for 6 weeks then 33 weeks at £125 -ish a week.....Not sure if you're on p/t how that changes. Try directgov website.

The statutory pay is as aimee-lou describes. A company's own maternity pay scheme will vary from one to the other, but typically you have to have been in the job a year by a certain point in your pregnancy. Some companies will offer enhanced benefits on top of their ordinary scheme if you've been there longer - my old company had much better benefits for 2 years plus.
