Question

So what do you guys think?

I've kinda been trying to do some research on TTC stuff, and I will be starting the prenatal vitamins 3 months prior to TTC, but I have a question about OPKs.

Once you come off BCPs, do you think it's smart to start using OPKs to see where your cycle is at? I can't see myself doing temping, or charting (or are they one in the same?) Or should I just let nature take it's course and assume that I will O will be between CD 11-16?

I've been on BCPs for about 9 years. My cycles were pretty regular before BCPs.

Thanks so much in advance!

Advice

I don't think it would be a bad idea to keep track of BBT and CM or using OPK's to find out where you are in your cycle for O. Best thing is to not get stressed about it - your time will come

Aww.. Aussies can be a major handful because they have so much energy. They either need to work, or need to be exersized like crazy! We have ours go to the park 3 times a week, and I take her on a 30-40 min walk every evening. After that, we come home and play some more!

Hi Jewels!

All this ttc stuff depends on what sits best with you, is my advice. Try some stuff out and settle on what works for you.

I started off with temping..found it to be a pain in thr b*tt, lol... decided to get a clearblue fertility monitor ( i think u got similar if not the same in the states) and that worked really well for me.

I signed up with MyMonthlyCycles so i can record af and symptoms and get a round about idea when i should expect af and so forth.. FertilityFriend is another similar site that many of the girls here use.

Sorry for going on a bit.. but i was a bit like you and i just did the trial and error bit, really...

Im now using OPK's cause i had a mc in feb so i cant use the monitor til i get af..they are ok, but i prefer the monitor so i dont have to 'interpret' and go cross eyes trying to read those fiddly things, lol this is just me tho..

Good luck, hun! xxx

Thanks much Omi! I was debating getting the CBFM, just to make things easier... It would be nice not having to try and guess each month. So it works pretty well? I've read lots of good things about it.

I (as posted before) have been overbuying things. I have it all and i think my cycles are regular and all that , its more due to my obsessive planning mind....

A friend used the sticks to predict her exact date so she could have a boy and it worked so everyone does their own thing. When do you plan TTC?

I think it's a very personal choice. For myself I didn't buy any of the OV kits, monitors, etc. Just let nature take its course. I knew that if I got into all of that there would be no stopping me Plus didn't think DH would find it very romantic. If I hadn't conceived after 5-6 months I probably would have looked into buying those.

hi Vickie,

I see you have two cats - just like me :-) Do you wonder if they will be jealous? I think mine will, especially the one......

Thanks so much girls. We will probably be trying late this summer - maybe July or August. I'm a major planner myself, but as Vickie says it would probably be more romantic to just try without anything for the first few months. I'm thinking my hubby might be annoyed if I use OPKs or a monitor right out of the gate anyways. hehe

Maybe I can just start out by monitoring my cervical position (not sure how accurate this is at predicting O though). If nothing happens after a few months, then maybe I'll try the monitor.

I'm hoping that because my cycles were pretty regular at 28 days before BPC, they'll go back to that pretty quick.

Does anyone know how accurate the cervical position thing is in predicting O?
