Contraception during WTT

Hi,

I am currently starting a 3 month break before DP and i can try again.

This probably sounds like a really teenage question for a 25 year old. But i am really unsure what contraception to use....

I was on the pill when I originally got pregnant and do not want to go back on for just 3 months. Nor other hormone treatments (they make me feel very poorly and i feel may have contributed to my ectopic )

We do not want to use condoms either as they just don’t seem right in our relationship now.

The rhythm method is not reliable whilst my cycles are settling down.

I was thinking about the diaphragm.....?

Anyone else had this dilemma??

Mimi xx

I was going to say maybe the diaphragm. It's difficult because you don't want to take anything which could mess with your cycles and make TTC harder. I would also have said condoms but I understand why you're not comfortable using them.

I think it depends how badly you want to avoid getting pregnant during the next 3 months. If it wouldn't be such a terrible thing then maybe you could use spermicidal lube and the withdrawal method. Obviously it isn't a guaranteed option but it's very unlikely you'd get pregnant.

Hi Anita

I really cant get pregnant during the gap as it will increase the risk of another ectopic.

thanks for the ideas though ... would like to see if DH could do withdrawl lol...... something tells me he may forget :-)

have you ever used a diaphragm- i dont know anyone who has or what they are like? can you feel them in?

xx

No no no don't do withdraw! You can get pregnant if he pulls out. I got pregnant in a similar fashion (he only wore the condom for the 2nd half). Have you ever thought about spermicides? They tend not to work as well as other things, but they don't dull sensations. However, they work quite well when used correctly each time. I'm going to start using this since it's too much work to get OH to wear a condom.

You can, but it works better with something else. For example, I want to use spermicides in conjunction with FAB when my period goes back to normal.

I hope you find something that works for you.
