mummys of multiples - how frequent are babys movements?

hello ladies

im just over 23 weeks and since about 20 weeks have had flutters but only over the last couple of weeks what felt like proper kicks . Some days they'll move loads and ill feel them sporadically thorugh the day and other days ill feel a few kicks in the morning , and then usually again when im in bed and relaxed.

yesterday i had a couple of kicks in the morning and was busy all day but even laying in bed last night they didnt seem as active as usual . this morning ive had the normal kicks again but do you find this was normal when carrying multiples? I have a routine 24 week scan tommorow because of carrying triplets and everything to date has been fine with thier sizes and vessels etc.

Do you all is ok as long as im feeling something everyday???

x

They classify 'normal movement' as 10 movements per baby per day, so if you are feeling that then i'd say its ok.......they are still quite small so you may not feel as many movements as they are making. I can't quite imagine trying to work out what baby is where for 3 babies!! Luckily I just had one on each side so it was easy.

Its still very early days and you get used to their movement, you get to know their rythems and positions.

Of course this is just from my personal experience with twins, not sure if its any different with triplets!!! Just keep a note and if you realise you haven't felt them in a while, lie down in a quiet room, relax and concentrate on your belly, maybe have a sugary drink to get 'em wriggling.

If you think there may be anything wrong please please please don't hesitate to call the midwives or just turn up at the hospital to be monitored for half hour......they really don't mind!!!

i worried about this, it also depends on the position of the babies and fluid levels. once I hit 26/28 weeks I really started to notice kicks but only one side as the other twin was hiding under. Before that they were really still more like flutters or just an occasional kick. I always kept asking the consultant as I was worried. Now at 32 weeks they are really strong and i can see movement of the belly and kicks etc but also more at night.

This threads just put my mind at rest a little. Thanks ladies. I am only 18+4wks but since about 15wks had the odd flutted and the occasional big kick. Both my boys have actually felt this a couple of times thats how strong its been. However for me I seem to feel something then go about 4 days with nothing at all then feel something again and this seems to be the norm right now. I just figured because there's more than 1 in there then the movements would be bigger and more frequent sooner.

I didn't really feel anything substantial and regular until around 23 weeks. Had the odd kick or two from 20 weeks. I used to worry the hell outta me but obviously that was unfounded!!

Congrats on hitting 24 weeks with triplets!!! Huzzah!

As for movements.... it sounds like you're getting a typical amount, but I know it's hard to keep track of things with twins. So if you feel concerned at all, then definitely call your doctor's office. Keep us posted.
