Calling All Twin Mummies

Im 15 weeks pregnant with twins. Its my first pregnancy, due to four arduous cycles of icsi and I dont have a clue what to expect. Yes, ive read loads of books but that is no substitute for experience!

I wanted to know what I have to look forward to Ive had a tiny bit of nausea but have not been sick but have had crippling two day headaches instead! Im getting pains in my groin area and bad bad constipation. Ive just had a weeks worth of spotting brown and grey blood but a scan showed all was well so im putting it down to the placenta taking over and/or stretching.

I would love to hear what other twin mummies have been through in pregnancy, the good, bad and ugly!

well iv just had my twin girls on the 7th november they was 6 weeks early. in my early weeks i was only sick a cople of times. and when i hit 20 weeks i passed out once then this is where the trouble started when i hit 30weeks i was in and out off hospital for 4 weeks with bleeding and the doctors didnt no where the bleeding was coming from then on the 4th november i woke up with blood everywhere and clots coming away from me so i called an amberlance and got take to hospital. they monitred the babys and they was fine. they keep me in and said ill have to stay in now untill i deliver i was thinking 6 weeks in hospital god its going to drag, then on the thursday night early friday morning it happend again and i got rushed to labour ward to keep a closer eye on me. i was waiting for my consultaint to come and see and he said i think we should deliver but then the special care unit was closed at my hospital cause they would off been 34 weeks so i had to get transfered to another hospital. then the bleeding happened again and the consultaint said its time to deliver so on the 7th november i had 2 healthy girls at 34 weeks they are in hospital to gain there weights up and to feed off a bottle one was 3.11 and the other was 3.8. so now im travelling everyday 38miles to go see my little angels. and i had to have a c-sec but its not as bad as everyone makes out. hope this helps. x

They are Dizygotic twins. We are having a scan on the 17th Dec to find out the sex and to see if my cervix is ok, im terrified of having an incompetent cervix. The lady doing our nuchal scan thinks they are girls but I have my fingers crossed for one of each! Do you know what yours are?

Are you starting to show yet? Im excited but scared.

Nicki, how are you recovering from the c-section? Have the Drs said when your girls can come home? I hope all goes well for them.

Congratulations!

My twins are ICSI twins too. Pregnancy wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be. I wasn't sick at all, had a few greyish days but that was it. Had a bit of constipation but it didn't last all that long, in fact I forgot about it till you mentioned it. I got really tired at the end and had some swollen, puffy ankles and quite a big bump but not horrendous.

I had a planned c-section at 36+6 as Charlotte was twin one and was breach. I was amazed how quickly I recovered from it. I know people who've had their twins naturally and some who've had emergency sections but every one of them say they want more babies! LOL!

The fun really starts afterwards!

my gorgeous twins boys are non-identical, they were born at 33 weeks and were 3lb11 oz and 4lb12oz. i developed pre-eclampsia,and had to have a c- section, but other than that it seemed incident free , i had the usual heartburn, a few headaches in the beginning and lots of stretching pains in the first tri, and was huge but i am only 5ft so that did not help.
boys were in scbu for 28 days cos they developed infections on there lungs , but now they are above average height and very healthy and doing very well at nursery.

enjoy it ,it can be a bit daunting , and you do feel like your going on auto pilot for a while when they are are born, but once you have a routine(very important for sanity ) you can start to enjoy anbd realise how lucky you are.

pm me if you need to chat
x

Yes Em, im getting big. At 16 weeks the midwife said I was measuring at 22 weeks! Your so lucky to have two boys, I desperately want a son. We are going for a gender scan on the 17th. Fingers crossed for a boy.

Becky, im so scared of pre-eclampsia. Ive had the stretching pains and headaches but am not looking forward to the birth. Im glad your boys are doing well now though and I agree with the routine idea. Ive read its so important.

At the moment we have spent five days without heating, floorboards and now the laid floorboards have to come up due to the guy laying them piercing a pipe with a nail. When the plumber tried to reconnect the radiatiors, water went everywhere so we now have half the hall ceiling missing.

The joys of doing up a house for the babies in winter. I cannot recommend it enough. In Jan we are having the whole house replastered and decorated. More no heating fun awaits.

im not a twin mum, but i am a twin lol.
my mum told me that carrying twins can be hard work, not to state the obvious lol. Supposedly u always have to go to the bathroom. you can get alot of abdomen pains from kicking and so forth, i kicked my mum in the ribs so much that i actually got my foot stuck and was born with my foot vertially back to front! so be weary of that lol.
i was born 6 weeks early, most twins are born early, so keep that in mind!
