Vicky thank you for your post...

I have 3 week old twin girls who are generally not hard to settle down when fussy, etc -- except lately at night, Gabby will not close her eyes after the early night feeding (8:15) AND now does the same thing at the 11:15 feeding... She starts to fuss and then it elevates into a cry... I know she is still little but keep hoping she'll start to soothe herself. I watch 45, 60 minutes pass along and think "GOD I could have used that extra sleep!" Last night even had me sobbing at midnight with my husband trying to help by rubbing my back -- seems the 3 weeks of crappy sleep has caught up to me.

Anyway the hardest hardest hardest part of all of this IS the lack of sleep - getting no more than 2 hours straight at any given time -- and I always said the part of parenthood I dreaded the most was the lack of sleep... It's proving to be true! I used to be a sleepaholic too. SIGH!

Just nice to know that you are going through the same thing... Good luck to you!!!
Ohhh god I hit a wall at three weeks I think its the combination of not being over the birth and also not knowing your babies still and not having a clue how to be a mum!!!! My boys are sooo different and need different things at different times and it all takes time to get to know them as little people. I am reading a book that says 'think of the crying as their language - like a dog barking or cat meowing' it totally takes the stress out of the crying for me. Oh the sleep deprivation is still hell but believe me you do get used to it - I even watched a film with oh last night that finished at 11pm and did the two night feeds and feel ok today. It just takes time xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

ps hope that doesnt sound patronising xxxxxxxx

Sounds like you are getting the hang of it! My first few weeks were so hard. I can't believe I only had Alex home for 4 weeks and Maddie home for 3. Seems like forever :P I think they went through a growth spurt earlier on in the week and now settled. I haven't been able to watch a movie yet but I hope I will get there.

OK Vineyard - I believe you - but WHEN? Ballpark? Seriously - 8 weeks? 10 weeks? I know all babies are different, what was your experience?

Thanks!

It's scary reading how little sleep I'm potentially going to get when our gorgeous little bundles arrive..I went to bed the same time as my 7 yr old last night cos I just need and love my sleep they will be worth it I know.

It's great to hear how well everyone is getting on
