Brand New to expecting Twins - Questions to ask!

Hi All,

Im brand new on here, and also still a little shocked as after a little bleeding scare i went for an early pregnancy scan at 7 weeks as was told that i was expecting twins and was shown two little heartbeats all fine on the screen!

Im now almost 8 weeks and due on Oct 9th, but have a feeling that with twins it will actually be aug/sept.....

Has anyone else had a little bleeding with twins too, or been even more shocked when there were no twins in the family and conceived naturally?

Also ive been so luck with no major symptoms apart from sore boobs, anyone else had this??

Also i know its still early, but in regards prams. pushchairs for twins does anyone have any suggestions, and is the mountain double buggy any good...???

Thanks!!!!!!!

My mum had twins when she was 19 but they were born at 22 weeks and sadly passed away, But i didnt think I was gonna have twins. My girls were natural! I wasnt planning on having kids at 21 but it happened and I was super chuffed... I found out at 8 weeks it was twins and only had sore boobs, No morning sickness or bleeding so dont let someone scare you by saying you get more morning sickness with twins!

Also I didnt feel them move until they were 22 weeks gestation and 7 weeks later I met them.

They were born at 29 weeks and 6 days but I know lots of twin mummies who have gone much much further!!

there is a website called twinsuk.co.uk (i think) they do lots of stuff for twins.

I have a cosatto You2 but I wanted an Out and About nipper 360!!!

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy. and welcome to Multiples forum lol xx

Huge Congratulations!!!

Are you 40 weeks on 9th October? I have been told I will be induced at 38 weeks if I haven't had my babies before then. I think 37/38 weeks is considered full term for twins. I have also been suprised by how many ladies don't go early, although I think there's a very real possibility of going into labour any time after 35 weeks, not many seem to have gone into labour or had a CS before then though, although some have.

I haven't had any bleeding, and there are no twins in my family. Well, there are, but on my Dad's side and apparently twins can't be passed through the male side of a family. I was on the pill though prior to trying for a baby and I have heard there is more chance of releasing multiple eggs if you have just come off the pill. My twins have seperate placentas and sacs, so are thought to be non identical. Identical twins are not hereditary but completely 'random'.

I had a nightmare with prams, but did consider the mountain buggy. In the end we went for the Emmaljunga Twin City Cross as I really like the look of it and it is very cosy for the babies to be in. Their website is www.emmaljunga.co.uk if you want to look.

We are also getting a Baby Jogger City mini twin for the car, as the Emmaljunga is quite big and heavy and we already have threee children so even in our seven seater, boot space will be limited.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for that!

Glad to here that your two were ok? If you dont mind me asking how much did they weigh at 29 weeks?

I actually saw the out and about nipper 360 at the babay show in london that i went to as the weekend, looked really good, but i found it very light, so much so was afriad the whole thing once babies were in would tip backwards! :-)

Yeah sure ask whatever you want. Its a scary experience but they are so well now its unreal.

Chloe was 3lb10oz and Jaycee was 3lb5oz. I had the steroid injections which gave them time to make their lungs stronger.

My partners sister went on Sunday! I went to the one at Earls Court in October 2008 but no one would go with me this yr haha!!!

x

Thats great thankyou! will take a look, i dont think ours are identical as they have seperate sacs at present, but the doctor said it couldnt be ruled out as they may have just split early on...

I have been dissappointed with the lack of stuff on twins though, as the rates of twin pregnancy are getting higher you would think there would be more things around for them, but tamba has been a big help with my questions!
