Twin birth...Natural or Caesarean??

I'm just wondering, those of you that have had twins, did you do it naturally or by caesarean? Also, do you get to choose how you want to do it? A lot of websites have been saying that theres more chance of caesarean with twins, but its still down to the doctors to decide if you are allowed one?

I don't mind how I get them out tbh, because a part of me would like to experiance child birth (God knows why?!?! I must be mad!) but then that coward inside me is screaming out caesarean lol! xxxx

I'm probably having a c section but thats due to a medical condition. I would have much prefered a natural birth. And only you can decide how to give birth, the doctors can reccomend things but its ultimatly your choice xxx

Hi, Well I am preggas with twins but I have had 3 natural births and this time I have asked for a c section as I dont want the labor and pushing as I told my dr I have done it 3 times and it was harder evey time so I dont want to do it again. But if you want to experience natural and you havent maybe you should give it a go as I do know that afterwards you recover a lot quicker. I was out of hospital 2 1/2 hrs after my last baby. I have spoke to friends who have had both c section and natural and they tell me c section not as bad as they thought but they were sore for a couple weeks and that ok with me....

I delivered twins naturally - it was really good!!
My labour lasted 2hrs and 13mins.
I think it depends on which way Baby 1, if it's head down then i think you should go for it!!
Good luck!

I was never *given* the option of having a c-section, they just kept saying *IF* it comes to it and in the end i had a natural birth that i really wanted anyway.

I think they try to avoid CS unless theres a medical reason for it.

I was going to try for a natural birth but I had to have a c section in the end and to be honest I didnt really mind what way.

My fear was going into labour delivering one natural and one by c section as my friend did!

I was given the option to but i only made it to 29 weeks anyway x

I keep changing my mind lol! Because both have their pros and cons! I'm just gonna see what the docs say tbh! I am hoping to do it naturally, because it maybe a painful labour, but once theyre out, theyre out, and theres not much recovery! Whereas after a C section you can hardly move and can't even carry your baby! I want to be getting on with looking after them, not lying back recovering from surgery! xxx

The way I look at it is it is childbirth no matter what way you deliver your baby! I wanted a natural birth but was unable to have it, which there is a higher rate of with twins!
I will tell you my experience of a section! My sister had an emergency with my niece and she had an epidural (mobile) She was up and out of hospital after 3 days and although its not the nicest thing in the world its definitely not as bad as people make out.

I had a section and I was put to sleep! I had a general anaesthetic and I didnt know much. I woke up and I decided I wouldnt have no pain relief (your usually offered a cocktail of drugs or morphine) I had paracetamol and 5 days after I had the twins I was allowed home ( I only stayed in for 5 days because I was on antibiotics) I was up and about after a day and had my stitch taken out a week after their birth which i was worried about but it wasnt painful at all.
If I had twins again I would have another section without question. If it is just one baby i would like to try natural x

This is something I really paniced about when I gound out I was having twins, my immediate reaction was oh no..I'll have to have a c-section. I had my 2 singleton sons naturally na dI desperately wanted a water birth and as natural as possible..I'm really okay with a hospital stay etc but I am worried that with a c-section I wont be able to get up to see the littles ones if they have to go to SCBU for 6-12 hours... Laura 2919, what was your experience of this?

thank you
