Genetics?

Hey all just wondering if those who are pregnant with twins had a genetic link within their family or OH family?
My OH's mum is a twin and she also has another brother and sister that are twins and on my side of the family there is twins on my grans side. do you believe it skips a generation?
I have not had a scan yet but just wanting to ask based on other peoples experiences?

My mom's sister had fraternal twins, and apperantly, I got the double egg poppin gene! It mostly goes through the mom's side.

Thank you for info. Will keep you posted just thought it could be a strong link because OH mum is a twin and none of her other children have had twins

No hun the fact your OH mum is a twin plays no role in you conceiving twins. After all he can't make you ovulate 2 eggs, it has to come from your side.
Identical twins aren't genetic they are a miracle of nature.

No genetic link here. I think mine came as a mix of being not young (won't say old), and having been pregnant several times. those seem to increase your risk. And I also agree with the others, fraternal twins run through the mothers side if there is a link and it can skip generations. Good luck!

Only one other living child. I lost two before her and two after her. All in the late first trimester. Been pregnant now 6 times. I'm 34 (35 this year - but not till after the babies are born!!).

Well my mums a twin... my OHs mum is a twin... my dads brother is a twin... my great grandparents were both twins... and one of my OHs great grandparents was a twin ...

...not sure why I was so shocked to find out I was having twins!!! The odds were pretty high eh!!

Being pregnant with twins is pretty good though, me and OH only ever wanted 2 kids, which means I only have to be pregnant once YAAAAAYYY!!! xxx
