If he thinks they are fraternal they can't be mono/di...mono/di babies are identical.

Yeah i have been looking on the net and thats what they all say, Its confusing me. He said he could see a membrane between them. I guess the only way to find out is at the 12 week scan.

Bth, I still don't understand all the twin terms..I just say they are fraternal, not identical..that covers my bases..I suppose if they were identical, I woul dhave a greater knowledge of those terms..

mono/di twins do have a membrane separating them, just a really thin one. if they share a placenta then theyre identical

Monochorionic diamniotic twins are by definition identical and share a placenta though they are in their own amniotic sacs. There is no way they could be different sex-unless they aren't actually monochorionic, but are instead dichorionic.

You have Identical which share same placenta and same sac, then you have identicals which share the same sac different placentas and then you have non identicals which are only classed as twins because they are from the same pregnancy but are actually singleton babies.
Its all hard work. lol.
All i know is in the UK if you have identicals of any kind you have scans at 12,20,28,30,32,34,36 weeks! if you have non identicals you have scans at 12,20,38,32,34,36 weeks!
x
