Natural Birth?

Does this happen with multiples? or do doctors push for c sections more often?

I have been told if twin 1 remains head down and all is well they will let me go naturally - if twin one shifts position or we get to a position when they have to come out then they will c section me - HTH

My doctor was all for natural. However, both babies were breech so natural was not an option.

sorry to sound like an idiot lol but is twin 1/a the twin nearest the cervixy bit? If twin 1 is engaged then does that mean twin 2 will just follow suit? thanks xxx

A is the twin nearest the cervix. No, B will not necessarily follow suit. In fact, even if B is heads down B will frequently flip during labor. However, once A is out there is "tons" of room and doctors can usually externally rotate B or some doctors are willing to reach up there and turn B as well.

I've been told you definitely want an epidural for twin labor cuz the turning is painful (externally or internally)! That was from a midwife too, who supports unmedicated births!

I wish I would have been able to have mine vaginally though. I will never get to experience labor and that sorta makes me sad.

A colleague of mine was in hospital a few days after I'd given birth and had her twins naturally... and twin A was breech! I don't know how she managed to convince the doctors! She is very fit and into yoga etc. She'd even got to 38 weeks and had to be induced, but mine born 4 days before at 34+3 were considerably larger. I guess there is a lot to take into consideration

I gave birth to my twins naturally - no pain relief, nothing!
My DS was head down and my DD was breach, but she turned when my DS was born.
It was a very quick labour - from start to finish it lasted two hours and thirteen minutes, and there's five minutes between them.
