Multiples: Useful Hints and Tips

Now that I'm getting into things, and as there are also a lot of experienced 'Multiple Mummies' here, I thought it might be useful to have a thread full of useful tips that we've discovered along the way Please feel free to add your own... and let's see if we can make this a sticky.

Here are mine so far:

Bottlefeeding: Now that T & J are bigger, and to stop the screaming while only being able to feed one at a time, I'm now using our bouncing chairs to sit them in... draped with a muslin to catch any spillages... sitting on the floor in between them... and feeding both together. For some reason they love it and are always full of smiles. It also seems to help bring up wind a bit quicker

Nappies: Probably not multiple specific, but Huggies nappies are a bit smaller than the equivalent Pampers size, so you have a choice if your baby is in between sizes

Nappy Rash: J had a really bad nappy rash for weeks - it was red raw . We tried everything... Sudocrem, Metanium, even some prescription Timodine but none of it worked. We eventually tried chamomile tea (cooled and used instead of water, with cotton wool) followed by a layer of vaseline... it did the job and cleared what had been there for weeks in a matter of days

Wipes: You can make your own wipes by getting face cloths or even soft disposable nappy liners and soak them in water or chamomile tea at the beginning of the day... put in a sealed container and then use when required You can do the same with cotton wool balls too.

Night Feeds: I've recently found that dreamfeeding the babies at their scheduled time, rather than waiting for them to wake when hungry, is quicker and makes for a more peaceful night without them waking each other, and they take more in too!

Out and About: I find that sometimes it is easier to carry one in a sling and have the other in a single buggy.

So... over to everyone else...

I do have two bouncy chairs, so that will work! My sister is wanting to know what we will need..Despite having a few before this, I am out of receiving blankets..I know that for sure..What else did you find came in really handy? I do plan on getting a few bottles, just in case...

Well im still a new twin mom and I posted a few tips in the past but I have come up with a few new ones................

I know it's not a good thing to prop bottles but if you have to and I will admit I have to quite often I prop them in there boppies off to their side to stop any choking. So there kind of off to the side as if they were breastfeeding.

I feed them right before any outings and most of the time we make it home just in time to eat again.

I have learned that fresh air is not only good for the little ones but it makes them sleepy my doctor gave me the ok to bundle them up and go for walks in the stroller (it's winter here but not freezing or snowing yet) Normally after a walk it's time to eat and right to bed for a nice long night of sleep
