Tentative Identical Twin mummy to be

Hey multiple mummies,

I'm only tentative as it's still early days but I pray they both stay beating strong.

I'm now 6wks and had to have an internal ultrasound scan on Sunday as I was having terrible cramping and the doctors thought I may be having an ectopic. They found one gestational sac in the right place and so all was well but then they saw two heartbeats flickering on the top and the bottom of the sac and my heart skipped a beat bcos i've always been fascinated by multiples and twins run in both sides of the family so I was really hoping to get twins (hence the name). To actually be told there were two hearts beating was unreal and i'm still in shock.

I can't stop getting stupid worrying thoughts out of my head though about VTS (Vanishing Twin Syndrome) I pray it doesn't happen but i'm worried. How early did you ladies find out you were having twins and how has it been since?

congratulations! i have identical twins and was always worrying about ttts. we got a very mild case of it but thankfully it sorted itself out. my girls are 3 months old now! what type of identical twins are they? i dont suppose you'll know until dating scan. mine are monochorionic diamniotic which means they share a placenta and they are in one big sac thats seperated by a thin membrane. my girls were delivered by csection at 36 weeks. feel free to ask me any questions, pm me if you like. ive been there and know how u feel! congrats again!

First of all CONGRATS!! I found out at 6+1. That was my first ultrasound and we saw 2 HB beating away. I worried through the first trimester. I even had 2 episodes of bleeding and my little bubs were fine. The best thing we can do for our babies is rest up and eat healthy. It's so hard not to worry when it's early. Sending you sticky !

OMG!!! I'm soooooo pleased to hear some of you ladies found out at 6wks and all is still well. It has given me hope and now i need to learn more about identicals and what different types there are. I've got another scan on the 24th at 8wks and I can't wait to see them again.

I think what bugs me is the fact that they are in one sac so it could've just been our eyes deceiving us but then again there were 6 pairs of eyes in that room so 12 eyeballs can't be wrong, right?

Thanks so much ladies

You are not the only one who worried so much about vanishing twin..I found out at nine weeks, and still worry..Not that at this point, they could vanish, but you know...
Congrats, and praying all goes well for you!! Welcome

i found out at my 12 week scan. it was the best surprise ever! if they are in a single sac they could be either monochorionic diamniotic twins like mine or monochorionic monoamniotic which is one sac that isnt seperated by a membrane. mo mo twins are the risky kind as the cords can get entwinedf etc they arwe very rare though so i wouldnt worry too much at this point.
