Hi I think that with identical twins its just down to luck whether the egg splits but with non identical it can be heritary on the mothers side or just luck. I was told by the doctor that it is only heritary on the mothers side though (not your OH's) as it is down to how many eggs you release...however my MIL swears blind we're having twins due to their being twins on her side of the family!!

We didn't have a clue we were having twins until our 12 week scan....although I did have terrible MS which apparently can be a sign of twins!!

Good luck!

Well at the moment I`m waiting to find out tomorrow If i have twins Ill be 7.5 weeks by then.
How they think I could be carrying to is that my hormone levels were high when they toke my blood but told me to come back in 48 hours then risen and they said its more chance of me having twins with a risen hormone level but my OH father is 1 of 11 and theres 3 sets of twins there and theyve all had twins themselves.

I found out at my early scan - my sister has twins and my mum has a brother and sister twin but thats it. Apparently they are more common in older women (I am 36) and of course assisted pregnancies.

I conceived the first month after coming off the pill too so not a clue why or how. Its my first pregnancy and I havent had any actual morning sickness just waves of nausea over the last week or so and my tests didnt come really dark or anything lol.

My betas were high but I didn't have that bad of morning sickness. Extreme nausea but no throwing up.
