Double folic acid does anyone know?

Hi all

I dont know if anyone can help but I am 7 weeks with twins and it just occured to me that maybe I should be taking a double dose of folic acid. Does anyone know if I should?

Yes, you should be. I was instructed to take 1000 mcg which is actually more than double. Most prenatals will actually have around 1000 mcg anyway.

Oooh that's interesting because I was told not to (could've been because they knew that most vitamins would have double dose anyway though, I guess).

I'd check with your MW to be sure.

With folic acid, it can't hurt though. What your body doesn't use, it will just pee out. : )

thanks for the input both the mw and gp told me it wasnt necessary to take two. xx

I was told to just take one dose!, but every area seems to have different advice!

I took a prenatal and a dose of an extra folic acid tablet daily.
