Stupid question for mums with identicals!

Is it hard to tell them apart or do you just know??
If it is hard, what sort of things do you have to do to tell them apart, especially when their newborn, different coloured bands or something??

Just being nosy x

Obviously mine aren't identical but when they were newborn and both wearing white and hats I found it a bit tricky. Even now, if I don't have my glasses on and I just see the back of a head or they just have a nappy on I can mix them up.

I dont have identical twins - or any babies for that matter, however, my OH is an identical.
When he was itty bitty, his parents designated specific colors to him and his brother. One baby was red and one was blue - that's the colors they wore everyday!

We're pretty positive ours are identicle but it's never been comfirmed by tests, but when they were younger you could tell by their hair, it was always just a little different, and now their faces are a tad different, but only enough so I notice, everytime people see them I get asked how I tell them apart, guess it's just cause I see them all day everyday!

my mum is an identical twin, and she says she just used to get called 'twin' because nobody could tell them apart. i always wonder if she kept her name given at birth, or if it got permanently swapped with her sister's/my aunts if they got mixed up early on..

I have friends that are identical triplets and they were each given a colour and always wore that colour to tell them apart. Even now as adults they are really hard to tell apart and if I see just one sometimes I don't know who it is.

I don't have twins and don't think i'm having twins but do have identical twin friends, i remember asking them how there mothers told them apart and they said one has a birthmark in different place than other, my other twin friends said similar thing about a freckle. I can tell them apart now they are older i suppose you just get used to who's who
