Wannabmum ICSI diary

Hi, on advice of Helen going to start a diary prob should have started earlier..........!!

Anyway quick run down for those of you that don't know we have bn ttc since Nov 04, when nothing was happening finaly managed to get checked (kept getting brushed of previously due to my age)! turns out DH has azoospermia due to bn born without the vas deferenas. We went for PESA in Jan to check he did produce sperm and got good lot for him . So we are currently on NHS waiting list but have decided to go private threw GCRM in the mean time. Currently waiting for to arrive so we can get started will be doing it on short protocol, judging from my cm she should come from 2nd July onwards (think will b first time happy to c ) Due to our experiance in infertility and how much it hurts I have also decided to do egg sharing as would like to help make another family dreams come true.. Next thing for us is we need to transport DH on ice from ninewells to GCRM think that is going to b on Wed will update as soon as confirmed

xx

Yay! Good luck to you both. I will be reading this with avid interest.

Can I ask a question? How do they get DH's swimmers out? Is it painful?

Thanks everyone.

Helen there are few different sperm retrieval technics (sorry sp)

There is PESA wich DH had where under local they inject into the epididimus (sp?) wich is a small area at bottom of each testi and draw the sperm out usually only get enough for 1 / 2 treatments at time.

Another MESA is simallar but they slice open the testi first and usually get enough for 4/5 treatments this is done under genaral

The last is TESA this is used when they can't find sperm in the epididimus again is done under genaral they make small incision in testi and remove some of the tissue that prduces sperm they usual takes time in lab to go threw and see if they can find any.

Can only comment on PESA Dh wasn't sore immediatly but when pain killers wore of was bit sore, not majorly but tender nigly sore.

Just wanted to drop in and say good luck with everything. I hope it works first time for you.

We have unexplained infertility and will be starting our first 'private' IVF treatment in about 6 months, which if unsuccessful will bring us roughly to our NHS IVF treatment. I hope you don't mind me nosying at your journal.

Good luck hun

At least with PESA you're both getting your fair share of needles. Brave man - I bet there's not many fellas who'd do that.

Well we transported DH 'some we froze earlier' today so left the house at 7.30 drove up to GCRM to collect shipping container then drove to ninewells to collect ample then bk to GCRM all seemed to go well so happy with that, whilst I was there went over all forms again to make sure everything was in place and got started on Meteformin so all seems good for getting started.
