Maz's TTC Journal

Well I thought it about time that I started keeping a ttc journal on bnb.

I have been recording cycle days and emotions in a small pocket diary, but I find reading other ttc-ers journals helpful with questions I might have, so thought that maybe I could return the favour.

Currently I am CD14, and I Od yesterday. We have been trying on and off since Oct 2004, with absolutely no luck whatsoever.

We are in the final investigation stages of treatment. I've had blood tests, scans, and an HSG done - all fine. DH had a SA done just over a year ago, and was all fine. Now that we're being seen by the consultant that will carry out the treatment, DH has to do another SA this week, and once that's been done, its unfortunately just a waiting game.

It's very frustrating being at the mercy of the lovely NHS. We have a four month wait for a review appointment, then approx 12-16 months before treatment. Alternatively, we can pay for our review appointment to be done privately, then wait 4 months and pay for the treatment. At this stage we are seriously considering it as a viable option. I think we'll wait and see if turns up in a couple of weeks, and then go for the review.

Well, that's my journal started, and I will do my very best to add something everyday.

to everyone currently ttc

xx

Well today is CD15 and I have mixed emotions today...

We found out this morning that a couple we know have finally got pregnant - after 4 cycles of IVF. I am happy for them, but on a really selfish note, I'm really hoping our IVF journey isn't that long. I dread the thought of having to go through medications, egg collections, embryo transfers, and that many times.

Although on a slightly more upbeat note, I spoke to our consultant this morning, and he is happy to see us for our review appointment privately. It's gonna cost £120 but it means we aren't waiting 5 months before having our review - so in my opinion its money well spent. So after DH does what he has to do tomorrow I'll phone and make an appointment. The consultant also told me that their pregnancy rate is currently just over 40% for each embryo transfer cycle that is carried out. It's not 100% but then I didn't expect it to be. So hopefully, we'll have our treatment started by the end of the year... and our shortly after that. If not, we'll have to wait 3 months before we can do our next cycle - which should hopefully tie in with NHS waiting times.

Of course, if I maintain my PMA, I'll not need any treatment at all cuz that bitchy ain't coming to stay for a long long time ...

xx

CD16 - DH left his 'deposit' at the hospital today. No problems to report. Clinician said that the tests would be carried out today, and the report will be on my file within the next couple of days.

Phoned the clinic, but unfortunately they were closed, so no review appointment booked yet. Oh well - there's always tomorrow.

Feeling a little more upbeat today, but that might be because we have a long weekend coming up. Plus, we are going to see Bon Jovi in concert in Dublin very very soon. Eeeek. Can't wait.

Nothing else to report today. Going to go for a nice walk with our four legged hairy son (our dog), then have a relaxing soak in the bath.

xx

CD17. Got our review appointment booked - Monday 9th June - yippee!!

So once we have the review we can finally be put onto the waiting lists for treatment. We're going to wait for our NHS treatment and in the meantime have one cycle of private treatment. Hopefully we won't have to go through more than one cycle.

I'm a bit more relaxed now that our appointment has been booked. Maybe now that we are more relaxed, we won't need any treatment at all.

Fingers crossed eh??

CD18 - good god I am tired today.

Got home from work around 3.30 and instantly fell asleep on the sofa. I'm not going to get obsessive and start imagining symptoms though - it's way too early to have symptoms yet. I ovulated on CD13 so that would just be silly to think the tiredness is a sign.

I'm feeling quite positive about things right now - especially seeing all the lovely s that have appeared this month.

Fingers crossed I can post one of my own very soon.

CD23 - OMG Over the weekend I realised how addicted to bnb I actually am. DH was laughing at me, cuz every half hour I was checking to see if the site was up and running again.

Anyhow, I'm not feeling very pregnant. Four days to go til expected AF due date, and I don't feel any different. If AF is on her way, I should expect to get heavy, tired legs in the next day or two, and have some brown spotting.

Fingers crossed the doesn't show up.

Maz
Just wanted to check in and see how the journal was going. Sorry to say mine didn't bring much luck but I am reved up for this new month. (I figure if I tell myself enough I will get excited about another month of crazy googling symptoms, proping my butt up in the air with a pillow and a little monitor that says "HIGH" 8 days out of my cycle!)
Must have checked the site 100 times while it was down too. We are addicts. Hope all is well.
