What?? I have to take at least 3 months of pre-natal vitamins before I can even START trying to get pregnant? Wait a minute.. if I hadn't taken the time to educate myself about being pregnant and just decided to go ahead and start having unprotected sex, then I wouldn't have known a thing about folic acid and neural tube defects. How many other women out there know about folic acid??

ARGH.. if I had known about that three month wait earlier, I would have started those pre-natals waaay earlier than I did. Even more importantly, if I had known it would be so difficult for DH and I to conceive, I would have started TTC waaay earlier too.

When I let myself dwell on this, I feel pretty duped. Why didn't I know all this earlier?

Hey Cloudy don't punish yourself so much! Think of all the women in the world who have got pregnant without knowing it - how many of them were not taking their pre-natals, were boozing, taking drugs, over-exerting themselves, working with dangerous chemicals, eating Brie for god's sake!!! The more you get into TTC the more things you can blame yourself for - so stop it right now woman!!! You are doing the best you can, which is a damn sight more than a lot of girls!!!!

Rant over

Wow, Yaya, I didn't even realize that we have the exact same cycle this month! That's pretty cool! Great to be your cycle buddy. (Yes, CD 4 sucks... and CD 5, and CD 6... and 7... and 8 and...!)

Nat and magic: Aww, shucks, thanks for the hugs! But... oops... I now realize that I didn't explain very well in that post re: the pre-natals. Here's how it should have read!

I learned about the three month pre-natal vits issue before engaging in any unprotected so I did do the entire recommended three months of PNV before any TTC. What I meant to gripe about was that TTC had to be delayed a whole, long three months because of the danged PNV. To add insult to injury, I'm realizing that my healthy diet likely would have provided enough folic acid (as you noted Nat!) AND many women with far riskier lifestyles give birth to perfectly healthy babies (as you noted magic!) so I probably could have started TTC three months earlier. Then again... if I did happen to give birth to a baby with birth defects, I would never forgive myself for being so impatient.

ARGH... the dilemmas of TTC!!

Anyway, gals, I am once again AMAZED by your wonderful support. I've truly looked forward to my time on BnB every single day since I've joined.

BIG GROUP !

Neah, it's not stupid and selfish but it puts a heck of a load of stress on you. I've relaxed and felt like I can breath again once I've decided I can give myself time and we can take it slowly and sort our health and our fertility issues -his- and then it will happen. I can tell you that once I stopped wanting it THIS DANG MONTH it did feel better.

Good luck and welcome to your journal.
Alexandra, glad to know I'm not the only one! Now that you mention it, my big 3-0 is coming in only 3 cycles' time. Yikes, that really makes it seem much closer!

Thanks for sharing your experience w/ the timeline and pressure. That is my next big goal... to relax and let go of the timeline. I'm doin' pretty good w/ the "stop obsessing" goal but this new goal is much trickier, 'specially w/ ladies poppin' out those babies all around me!

I'll need your calming influence over the next three cycles!

Ack... once again miscommunicated meself! You are very right... 30 is NOT old!! And neither are 34 or 37!!! That was very insensitive of me. Please accept my profuse apologies! I'm just makin' a fuss over it because it's a big milestone in my life.

Forgive me girls!

Yo stop apologizing to them. Ask them first how old their kids are! They have a huge head start on us even if we get pregnant today!

Oh wow...that's a thought!!!

That means I'm younger than you are...61....

I had DS when I was 33 (conceived at 32), so there is plenty of time for your first one!!!!
