Well, like cm and ewcm.. I mean, I know it's what I'd call discharge but what's the difference?

For your interest, a short 'lesson' (lol) on cervical mucus:

There are basically three different 'types': sticky, creamy and eggwhite. However, immediately after AF you might have a couple of 'dry' days, in which no real cervical fluid is present -- you might feel slight dampness but it will quickly dissipate on your finger.

Thereafter you might feel STICKY cm -- this can be opaque, white or sometimes clear. It can be quite thick, crumbly or flaky like paste, or gummy and rubbery like rubber cement (). It's critical quality is it's stickiness or lack of true wetness.

Next, you will probably see CREAMY cm -- this can be milky or cloudy, white or yellow. Creamy or lotiony. Wet, watery or thin. When separating fingers, it doesn't form peaks but remains smooth like hand lotion.

Finally, you would hope to see EGGWHITE cm -- it is usually clear but can have opaque streaks. It is very slippery and wet, like raw eggwhite. It is also very STRETCHY.

You should check your cm about three times a day and start when AF ends.

Hope that helps. I know it might sound a bit overwhelming at first but it's easy peasy once you get the hang of it!!

Thanks Yaya my sweet, I will get checking once AF is over. I've always known when I was ovulating a) because of aforementioned egg white b) because it hurts. But I could only ever feel it on my right side (probably coz the poor eggy was having so much trouble getting through the gunk), so now the right tube is gone we'll see if I can still feel ovulation

Ha ha, I always get bucket loads of the eggwhite sutff (sorry, TMI) so is that a good thing??

So it's cycle day 3 for me right.. sugar, better go back and check that. I'm not in so much pain now but just generally feeling bleurgh. However that could also be to do with the gigantic hangover I have. I came to Switzerland as the 10 pint drinking English Aupair girl (had to keep up the good English name right??) and now I have a couple of irish car bombs and shooters and I am dead on my feet. Terrible. After a few hours of me and my gf trying to hook one of the guys (who hasn't had a gf for goodness knows how long, v cute but oh so shy) up with a girl, any girl, we decided it was time for us to go and leave the boys to it. I went to bed at 4, woke up at 7 to take asprin then slept til 2pm when I woke and realised we had no electricity. I really should actually learn how to do things myself, seeing as I live by myself for 6 days out of every 11, I flicked a few switches and nothing happened. Turned out it was an area wide blackout anyway and got it back in an hour, not before I'd called DH in America to ask him what to do. I really am pathetic.

Ha ha hah Yaya, DH is 1 year older than you, I doubt he'd appreciate being called a middle aged old fart!! Actually he's always the one who wants to go out and party, has to drag me.. hence why I can't take the alcohol anymore.
