Hey darling, lots of for you, you must be so excited about DH coming home, your so strong with him being away, I go to pieces if DF goes away for more than a night! (although I will confess to enjoying the 'me' time and freedom to clean the house from top to bottom without him messing it back up!! Oh and not having to cook all the time ...

I have been googling what has happened to my friends' baby. She 'has' VACTERL. It's not actually a condition or illness but an acronym to describe a linked set of abnormalities. A child is considered to be a 'VACTERL' baby if they have three or more of them - they are: Vertebrae, Anal, Cardio, Trachiotomy, Esophagaus, Renal and Limb (In very simplified terms). This wee one has problems with verterbrae, cardio, esophagaus (and possibly trachiotomy - I'm not sure.)

It only affects one in 6000 live births, they reckon there are only 250 kids born worldwide every year with this 'condition' (not sure if that maths works though! 250 x 6000 doesn't seem like the number of births across the globe every year, but it's late, and I'm not good at maths at the best of tmes lol!). No known reason but it's believed to happen in week four of the pregnany (so possibly before you even know you are pregnant) when the the baby is made up of three layers and the middle layer, the mesoderm which goes on to form the bones, muscles, heart, doesn't seem to form properly.

Most often this is not picked up in a scan - but it can be. Especially if, as in this little one's case there is a spine defect. It's also associated with excess amniotic fluid which she had and was being monitored for!

I know my friend has contacted a support group. If any of you know anything about this 'condition' please PM me. Alternatively I hope if you know anyone, or ever do, with excess amniotic fluid, then remember this condition and at least let them know to ask about the possibility of this and at least they can maybe be a little prepared for what's ahead. It's a long road but the baby will be home in 5-8 months.

Anyway hon, did you use agnus cagnus (sorry for spelling!) to O earlier? My LP is too short really so wanna O earlier. x
Hi Trix I missed this earlier, yeah I found that AC moved my O date forward by two days but I can't remember if it was over two cycles or one. Give it a try, you've nothing to lose. I tried evening primrose oil as well cos it apparantly increases your CM, but it didn't seem to do anything for me so I stopped that but continued with the AC. Just remember with the AC for fertility help though to take it from CD1 to O and then stop, don't take it after O. (I can't remember why though lol!)
Thanks hon. x

Hi hun. I'm not sure if this is the same but a girl i used to work with had a baby girl - she also had excess amniotic fluid and the baby was born with a hole in her spine. she is absolutely fine now - I saw her not v long ago in asda and she said that everything was perfect now. she was monitored for quite a while but had been given the all clear. Not sure if it is the same thing hun - but just wanted to tell you.
