Well they told us that we should not get jiggy while we are taking Puregon.
Oh and while on the subject of Puregon those blasted idiots at OFU sent us a letter.
Here's a little excerpt from it:
Quote:
I am writing to summarise our discussion on the telephone earlier on following the disappointing outcome of your IVF cycle.
To summarise 8 eggs were collected but following a fertilisation check five of these were immature and did not have the ability to fertilise. Two of the eggs had been fertilised but had abnormal numbers of pro-nuclei (chromosomes) which could due either to multiple fertilisation from multiple sperm or due to an underlying problem with the egg.
Only one egg fertilised normally bu unfortunately this did not go onto divide. We agreed that based on one cycle it can be difficult to know whether the outcome is due to an underlying reoccurring problem or to what extent chance/bad luck plays a part. You are at increased risk of the same happening again and we have to take this into consideration when discussing success rates with a second cycle.
Bearing in mind this cycle and also your age of 40 years I think the chance of a second cycle resulting in live-birth would be in the region of 8-10%. However, if the second cycle proceeds normally and good numbers of embryos are produced then the success rate will be nearer 15%.
Unfortunately there is nothing we can change to make a huge difference during a further cycle. I will push the dose of Puregon up slightly and we will leave the follicles for another day or so to try to maximise the chance of eggs being mature. I explained that if you prefer to speak face to face then I would of course be happy to arrange this.
Yours sincerely,

Thoughts were of anger!
1. Someone is trying to cover their ass because something went wrong somewhere.
2. Why didn't they just come out and say that they screwed up with my medicine, with the length of time to incubate my embryos, why did they allow multiple sperm to fertilise my egg - they told me it's 1 sperm per egg etc..?
3. My partner said that they whole letter stunk of incompetence!
OFU are like a cattle market - shoo you in and shoo you out. They are NHS and that's it.
4. Just because they are in Oxford doesn't mean they are the best.
Plus some other things but I must move on from this.
Today is my consultation with CRM London - private clinic.
Then next week I have a hypnotherpy session - fingers crossed that all goes well today.
