| I understand how you feel and that you are impatient and excited about using your monitor when it arrives, but there are a few things to consider before you make this decision.
The instruction booklet is very clear in saying that the first cycle that is monitored is the most important one. It may ask for more test sticks to be used than normal so that it can register and understand YOUR individual cycle pattern. It is this pattern that allows it to ask you for a certain amount of test sticks in every consecutive month and in this way, it will be most accurate for the long term. If you "fool it", which I perfectly understand as I would have been tempted myself, then honestly, I think you would be fooling yourself.
The monitor holds up to 6 previous cycles in its memory, and then it starts to override the memory bank with new information. Therefore, it would take SIX MONTHS for your monitor to accurately calculate your ovulation and high fertility days. Be warned, it could make the difference between getting pregnant later, rather than sooner. I wouldn't chance it. The friend who gave you the advice, has she used one and is she expecting?
I know the decision is up to you, but I would feel disloyal if I didn't give you my opinion. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | If the test just monitors your LH surge then the results should be accurate if I use it just a couple day late. Mind you I know little about the monitor yet. I plan on reading the instructions before jumping into using it. My friend who gave me the advice is currently pregnant and has used it for the past year and got pregnant several times sadly all ending in m/c except for the last one. I understand that I don't want to scew my results in order to get the most accurate reading and hopefully I won't have to if it arrives soon! Thanks so much for the advice. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | What gives people the right to say I shouldn't be TTC? Seriously some people just really piss me off. It's not making TTC any more fun knowing that many people won't even be happy to hear the news if I ever do get pg. I think if/when I do get pg I'm only telling a select few. Grr....some people. |

Ive had a person interrogate me trying to get mte justify why we wanted kids now.
The monitor also tests for oestrogen, thats the biggest thing that makes it different to opks. The build up in oestrogen happens a few days before ovulation so the monitor picks this up and gives you a bigger window with your fertile time.
Just a thought, if you really want to use your monitor this cycle and put the days a bit off, you could do that and then for the next cycle just reset it so its fresh again, that way you can still use it this month and then do it properly next month (if you need to )
Resetting it is very easy, itll be in teh back of the book. all you need is a test stick. |

| Who the devil is questioning your right to ttc? God, some people just infuriate me. I am sure there will be plenty that will think I'm crazy ttc #1 at 45, but quite frankly, I couldn't care less about them. The select few I have chosen to share this info with are absolutely over the moon for me. Including my 73 yr old Dad ... he was very supportive and feathered out his chest a bit. I felt a bit embarrassed telling his though as it's not someone I've spoken to him about before and it's harder when you're older, well it was for me anyway.
Well I for one will be over the moon if you get a BPF. In fact, I would go as far as saying I can't wait to hear your good news. The very fact that you are taking part in this type of forum, shows how committed you are to planning your PG, which in turn indicates how good a parent you want to be. Now surely, noone can fault that?
Hope your monitor has arrived as I know you're going to love it.
Best wishes from me and a bit more |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you Tishimouse. You're awesome too! I apologize for the random rant in my journal. Basically I just had a close friend tell me for health purposes that I should not be TTC. It stung a bit and I had to vent the only place where people understand me. It's really hard in my case to tell anyone that we are TTC because A) they would ask me if I was pg every 5 mins and B) they would lecture me about my health since I would be a high risk pg. I just get frustrated and some times wish things were easier! Oh well, at least it makes life less boring aye? Thanks for the kind words and good luck TTCing! |
