Need to let off steam about my idiot of a doctor!

Had my follow up appointment today from having my hormone tests done (results came back normal) im no further forward in knowing why my AF has gone dramatically different this past year.
My doctor began to tell me how i 'have managed to get pregnant before' so concieveing isnt an issue?!?! i mean how does he know that for sure what if there is a problem with me and hes just going to dismiss it!?
However he prodded my stomach where i told him ive been getting pain and it ws really tender when he touched it but he said doesnt feel like theres anything wrong but will send me for a scan to reassure me!
I am just really fed up now of having up tp 60day cycles and really want me sticky bean very very soon its driving me bonkers

in my experience doctors seem to be in a "you're young, healthy and you did it before you can do it again, and you have plenty of time left to do it in" spirit alot of the time...

and yeah, they might be right, it doesn't stop up from worrying and having our strong desires for a baby.
we don't want a baby "then", we want our babies NOW!!!!!!!

i am glad however that yours has at least referred you for a scan, some would say
"meh you don't need that"

Thanks for your reply...I guess in a way i understand where there coming from...but i just get so aggitated that they can dismiss some things when there could be an underlying problem (even tho theres probly nothin at all to worry about) He told me that to get any help with fertility or to have serious tests done is when ive been TTC for 2 years. ( I have been trying for tht long but my doctors took it from my 2nd m.c)

I am dealing with the same thing here in the US. I am 31. Ill be damned if I will tolerate it.. My years are slowly slipping by.

I had my son at 24. You alll arent to young. Doctors need to stop looking at age.

Hi Zoe

I don't know if this is of any use but I have attached a link to the RCOG guidlines for infertility treatment - it may be worth contacting them to see whether your Dr should be counting from your 2nd mc being that mc can be part of infertility - I'm no expert but that seems wrong to me.

If there seems to be stuff pertinent to you ( and you have to scroll right down past all the glossaries etc to get to the actual info ) might be worth printing off and highlighting things that are of interest and taking to the GP's appt.

http://www.rcog.org.uk/files/rcog-co...tilityFull.pdf

I have found the RCOG website full of great info and they set the standards and guidelines for care that the medical industry should work to.

When I was asking about tests that should be done regularly when under treatment for PCOS and mentioned I got it off the internet the GP was all dismissive - as soon as I mentioned that it actually came from the RCOG and that I had never been tested as they say I should I suddenly got tested - strange. V sad that the GP's ( who are paid handsomely and get extra cash for bringing in junior dr's for extra work experience etc ) don't seem to keep themselves abreast of what are quite common problems - not asking them to be experts - then it's worrying!!

Hope you get the help you deserve soon!!

hx

This seems to be more patient friendly summation of the same guidlines

Hi, we've been ttc for nearly the same amount of time, if you count it from your 1st mc which i think most people and doc's do? which is 1 year 7 months, i know we count it from our 1st mc and out GP did, and she referred us to a fertility specialist because we've been ttc for over a year, we're young aswell, 22 and 24 so really age has nothing to do with it, i'd try and see a diff doc and ask to be referred because of your long 60 day cycles, is there a woman doc you could see, maybe she'll be more understanding? plus i think you said in a diff topic that you've had tests done and there fine, but your OH hasn't? it'll be good for him to have a fertility test done aswell so then you kno if he have a problem.

Hi Jem, You & your partner are the same age as me and OH! Thanks for your adivice again. There is a female doctor but not sure if she is it my practice or the one at another town. I think it will be worth me seeing a female probably like you said will be more understanding. Are you any furthr forward in getting your sticky bean?
