Is it unlucky?

As theres not much else we can do whilst TTC apart from BD'ing I'm sure you're all the same as me and your mind wanders to names, nursery ideas, clothes etc.

But my question is this, Ive heard that buying thinkgs before your baby is due is unlucky, but surely it cant be?! Its totally impractical to not have anything bought. We have nine months from when we get our to when we're due and we're expected to not buy anything !!!!

Im a total shopaholic and I will want to buy loads, but if its unlucky I wont know what to do

What do you ladies think?

xxxxx

I don't think it's unlucky, I've heard having the cot/pram in the house before can be unlucky but I really don't believe in any of that! I say if you want to shop then SHOP!!!

ive never heared that you shouldnt by anything befor your baby comes, but i have heared that you shouldnt have your pram in the house. personally i would, and my sister gave birth a few weeks ago, and hers was in her bedroom. everything was fine, (except the 1hr labour and delivering her baby on the bathroom floor! hehe all ended well though) when i was growing up we always had neighbours prams stored in our house - just in case. . .

well how far would this go, can you buy a hospital outfit, crib, pushchair and a carseat? and then theres the nappies, changing table, wetwipes etc
there all things i would think were essential for at least the first day!
i couldnt imagine not buying anything when i get my bfp, my sisster is due to give birth in 6 weeks and i cant stop buying for her!

Thats not right at all... people say its unlucky to buy anything in your 1st trimester because you are at higher risk of miscarriage and its said to be tempting fate incase your bean doesn't make it to 13 weeks

When I was pregnant with my daughter I wouldn't buy anything until I was 12 weeks pregnant and I kept it all at my mum's house. This was nothing to do with it being unlucky it was just that I didn't want to have all the baby stuff in my house if anything had gone wrong.

Ever the optimist lol!

There is a book out (I can't remember the name ATM) that has a theory I like. It pretty much says that you have to make room in your universe for the things you want to happen. Example: if you want a baby, don't just have an empty room in the house or worse yet a cluttered room that you will make into a baby room. Make it as if the baby is expected, and the universe will listen.
OH its called The Secret. I haven't read it yet but I've heard good things about it.
