Conceive with Artificial Insemination

[FONT="Arial Black"][FONT="Arial Black"]Hi

me and my partner are currently trying to conceive with AI (artificial insem)
i have researched hundreds of sites and have got loads of information and advise but some questions i cannot answer.

I hope by starting this dicussion that it will help many other people and answer a few of my own questions at the same time.

i understand that this can be a sensitive issue so hope also to make more awareness of how common AI really is.

speak soon Netty and sade

Ive been very interested about this. Im TTCing with my husband so no need for a donor (as far as we know-hes getting an analysis this month) but I do have problems with CM and I read somewhere that theres a way you can do it so the sperm will be put straight into the opening of the womb to give a better chance is your CM is hostile? Maybe I read that wrong. I will definitely be researching this more. Also, its just interesting! Thanx for starting the topic

You can still AI with your parner apparently it can have a higher succes rate also i have read never to insert inside the cervix and can do damage but all women have a dip near cervix i believe is called the cervical pool this holds sperm for days until it travels through the cervix. there are many techniques i have read to help this work for the better.
another misunderstood things is women having a orgasm before sperm is inserted when infact the orgasm should be done after the sperm is already inside as after orgasm the cervix opens more and the contractions related to orgasm can infact suck the sperm inside the cervix.

good look with it though and for all trying for those little pitter patters

I'm currently on cycle #1 using home insemination myself, IVI (intravaginal insemination). We went through a known donor w/ fresh sperm. Immediately after he ejaculated, I inseminated. Afterward, I brought myself to the big O & laid there motionless for about 20minutes. We inseminated on the 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th of this month. I will know soon whether or not it worked.

Ilove, you can receive a IUI which your Doctor usually preforms. (Intrauterine Insemination), a syringe & a catheter are used to introduce washed sperm directly into the uterus to help with conceiving. It is not recommended this be done at home, due to the high infection risk.

These are the steps I took:

I went to my local Pharmacy & requested 5 (3cc) syringes, & 5 urine sample cups. All were sterile & in plastic wraps.

Day of insemination: The donor arrived & did his thing.
Once he walked out of the bedroom, my Husband escorted him & I walked into the bedroom. I immediately drew the semen into one of the syringes & tapped it for all of the air bubbles to be removed. Make sure all the air bubbles are gone. (PLEASE DO THIS, there is a risk of an air embolisms if you insert air directly into the vaginal opening. It can be life threatening.) I propped several pillows underneath my hip, for elevation. I inserted the syringe slowly into my vagina & reached my cervix. Upon reaching the cervix I began VERY SLOWLY releasing the sperm from the syringe. I left the syringe in & brought myself to the big O. (I actually did this twice, hahaha).. I removed the syringe after the O & lied there for about 20minutes without moving. I then went about my daily activities. We did this 4 times, the 7th being my ovulation day.

Thank you. I think if this goes on for many more cycles well raise things like this with our doctors and see what they say

And good luck for this cycle, really hope its the one!

I have a little boy through AI and am TTC my second with the same donor.

I also use syringe and urine sample cup. I was told by my donor (who has successfully helped many women) to not inseminate the sperm immediately after ejaculation but to leave it for 10-15 mins until it turns to liquid. Im not sure the reasons for this but i became pregnant first month of trying with my little boy and the sperm was left for 20 mins while i had a brew haha i was so nervous! Still worked though. I usually just leave it for 10 mins now though.

Good luck to you all

xx
