Anyone done testing for recurrent mc's?

I have an appoinment coming up next friday and although i know they'll test for 'sticky blood syndrome' and such im not really sure what to expect. I was hoping someone could tell me what happens?

I feel very lucky that they're doing it after 2 mc's and not expecting me to wait for another one (god forbid) and although im thrilled ive been offered this, i also feel i cannot stop ttc as ive been advised. Am I being a total idiot about this..well, i dont feel like i am seeing as i'll be 39 in 2 months, but still..its a bit argh! you know?

Anyway...i hope someone has some insight into this as id be really grateful for some info.

Thanks and , Omi xxx

If you want the tests done, you should stop TTC because most of them will be evasive and might interfer with pregnancy. So, if you ARE pregnant, they won't be able to test you.

I had the basic tests done after 2 m/cs... but they were not considered recurrent. Did your doctor gave you that term? or did you label it yourself? Recurrent M/C is when you have m/c at the same time each pregnancy...under similiar circumstances. I digress... what happens at these appointments, is they first consult with you to get an idea of the problem... then send you to get blood work done to test for progesterone and all sorts of blood clotting issues. Then your doc might get a biopsy of your lining, and they may also xray your uterus after injecting dye, both of which requires that you not be pregnant.

You can read all of my experiences in my blog. I did not get the HSG (xray and dye) done.

Thanks Charlie,

I am very well aware i shouldnt ttc and i am not pg at the moment. However, me and oh talked it over and we both decided to go with the flow. I know due to another similar thread that most people would not take the same chance as i given the same circumstances- and i can totally understand why- however, i think in ttc you have to go with your heart, and mine says to keep going. I dont fear another pg and dont have the feeling im doomed to mc again. If i did, id probably wouldnt ttc right now. Im not being foolheardy or reckless, far from it, i just have faith...

At the hospital, didnt say it was for recurrent mc's but said they would test me as i had had two. They also said they dont do genetic testing unless you have 3, but as things are im happy someone cares enough to do any test let alone a few.

I hope i am just part of the sad 'un-lucky' statistic and that 2009 will see me get my wish at last- to have a healthy baby!

All the best,
, Omi xxx

I totally understand where you're coming from because I haven't gotten my full test results yet, but we're TTC already.

Good luck to you!
