| MMR jabs? How often do you have them? I've just read that's it's best to keep your MMR jab up to date when TTC but I think I had one about age 14 (12 years ago) but I don't knoe if they are like tetnus (every 10 years). Anyone got any idea? | | | | Status: Offline

| I thought MMR was a once only jab.My daughter has just had it and we were told she would be protected for life, barring immune system problems. | | | | Status: Offline

| I defo had a booster in school. I've read that people who work with kids have to have them as well. I think I should be ok, but I read the other day that there has been a big increase in measles and I don't want to contract them if i am lucky enough to get pregnant. | | | | Status: Offline

| OK, a quick bit of research shows what you receive in school is not a booster.....its a secondary dose to 'protect' anyone who didn't get fully covered previously. Thats it...all you need. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMR_vaccine
In fact, seeing as Rubella is known to be a bit of a nasty risk to pregnant women, its advised against any contact with it, inc vaccination in pregnancy. | | | | Status: Offline

| I think it is just rubella that you need to check you are vaccinated against. I had a blood test before ttc to check that i was immune to it.
hope that helps

| Hi, I recently went to my doctor to get implanon out to ttc and he advised me to get MMR again (had one is school) as a booster, because it will give extra cover to baby in future.
I recently read though that if you have MMR you shouldnt ttc for at least a month after it, although there is no evidence to show that any babies have been harmed by their mums having MMR before or during pregnancy.
I just had it as he advised me to and as he was the family planning doctor i took his advise, but i havent heard of anyone else getting that before they ttc. you could ask and see, but may delay ttc. | | | | Status: Offline
