Opk's can be a pain in the bum or a godsend. It works very well for some while for others its like trying to read tea leaves, you know.

First off, you have to try some and see what works. I'd probably get some internet cheapies first and see if they work for you. They're a great buy and you can easily get 20 for £3 or something (try ebay!!)

Secondly, id look into getting a clearblue fertility monitor. A bit pricey but again the place to get a steal is on ebay. Thats where i got mine and its worked well for me. Its the best insofar as you get to know not just when you ov but when you are about to so you really can get to it when its most importamt, if you know what i mean

If you wanna go with regular opk's cheapies or shop bought ones (expensive though) keep in mind that a peak can come and go at the drop of a hat. Dont use fmu and try to test at the same time between 2-7pm. Sometimes you might have to test twice even! The testline has to be the same colour or darker than the control line. Not all the way through, though. Just an edge as dark will do.

This is a great link for everything to do with poas, www.peeonastick.com

Good luck, hun!

They are very useful if your cycles are irregular. If you have regular cycles, the online calendars can give you a pretty good idea, but some of us have very irregular cycles, which mean we ovulate at a different time each month. The opk is a strip that you dip in urine (or pee directly on) at the same time each day and when you get a positive, that means your LH is surging. LH is the hormone that triggers the release of the egg from the ovary, so typically you will ovulate within 12-36 after you get a positive opk. You can get cheap ones from ebay. Good luck!
