| Folic Acid... Hi guys....
I have been told that if you take folic acid and vitamin B12 while you are trying to conceive and the first 12 weeks while you are pg that its meant to help your insides a bit better....
And i have read that if my OH takes folic acid too that theres going to be 70% more chance for me to get pregnant...
Is that true? | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi hun
Folic acid helps the baby's development and is recommended whilst ttc and during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Not sure about Vit B12 though.
I don't think your OH taking folic acid will help though - I believe it's a woman's supplement so men won't benefit from it.
Good luck | | | | Status: Offline

| Hey puddytat
When I saw my doctor yesterday she told me to take the folic acid until I hit 12 weeks as it helps to develop the bean's nervous system. By taking it when TTC it means your baby will be getting the benefits from the very moment it's conceived which is definitely a good thing!! Not sure about vitamin B12, although I'm sure I've seen a few threads on here which say it can help prolong the luteal phase, or boost one of our hormones. I'm not sure of the details on that so hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. As for OH taking folic acid, I'm not really sure there are any benefits and I don't think it impacts on your chances of conception, but just because I've never heard of the benefits of men taking it doesn't mean there aren't any! If you don't get the answer you're looking for on here, perhaps try googling it!!

| I don't see why not hun, but I don't know how long ago you were pregnant so just make sure you check it's not out of date (there should be a date stamped somewhere on the packet). If you can't find a date or aren't sure if it's too old chuck it out and buy some more, it's not expensive x | | | | Status: Offline

| I would reccommend taking a prenatal vit, folic acid, and b complex for you. B6 lenghtens LP, but you don't want to take that alone. Besides, the other b vits help to make good eggs and corpeus luteum, etc. If you are taking a good prenatal and b complex, then you probably don't HAVE to take the extra folic acid (both prenatal and b complex have it), but it shouldn't hurt and can help.
As for OH, get him on a good men's multi-vit and some zinc. | | | | Status: Offline
