Temping when you work shifts - Help!

Well, I've deided I'm going to start temping but I'm not sure if it is going to work for me. You see, I work 12 hr shifts. When I am on days I do 7am-7pm and when I'm on nights I do 7pm-7am so I'm not sure what to do for best. I get between 2 and 4 days off between each set of shifts so on those days I can just set my alarm clock but what should I do when I get in at 7am, temp then or go to sleep and temp at about 1pm when I get up - Likewise with the day shifts, I will be getting up at 6am so there just won't be any continuity I'm so confused. Would really appreciate some help.

Thanks

Jo xx

I've heard that even if you dont temp the same time each day as long as you get a a good rest/sleep you should be ok because it is still your waking temp.

I second KandK... If you are using Fertility Friend maybe just don't put in the time? I think it's as long as you get 6 hours of sleep minimum...

Exactly, I asked several places before because there is no way I can temp the same time each day due to the girls. Some nights I might get 3 hours before the girls wake, other nights I get 8 hours. Generally I try to temp each night around 1am despite if I have slept or not because usually I dont get more than 3 hours each time I sleep since one or both of the girls wakes up. I can tell you that even though I am not taking a waking temp I am seeing major differences in my temps before what I assumed was O.

That's great, thank you for your advice. I am going to start tomorrow morning and just take my temp as soon as I wake up without doing it the same time each day because I am the sort of person that needs a lot of sleep anyway so didn't really want to set alarm clocks etc (god help me when we do have a baby lol!!).

Oooh I'm excited about starting to do this properly - even bought some OPK's on ebay so hopefully the hard work will pay off

Thanks again ladie and good luck with your TTC

You're very welcome and GL to you too. Hope that it wont take too long. I will tell you this our first baby was very simple, she slept when we slept was awake when we were awake. Now that we have two it is almost impossible for them to both be a sleep together for more than 4-6 hours at night and they almost never nap together.
