Hi all,

I'm dead chuffed....I got my first smiley face on my OPK this morning! On CD13, 2nd month off pill.
But I have a couple of daft questions to ask of you ladies who are more experienced than myself.....

My OH and I DTD lastnight, would his "lovejuice" induce a false positive on my OPK, do they exist?

Would the dance from lastnight count towards this month's efforts seen as "lovejuice" can live in your body for x amount of days?

There may be a problem DTD tonight as we are staying on my OH's parents boat tonight, and they will be just the other side of a thin piece of wood, would tomorrow night be too late?

Do I expect 14 days from now?

I have just realised I think I know the answers to all of the above, I am just seeking reassurance HELP!

Sperm can live for a few days..and have been recorded to live as long as 5 days in woman's vagina. I personally got pg from bd 2 days before i ovulated ( one day before i got a positive opk.i use a clearblue fertility monitor, so its a bit easier as it tells me when i am about to ovulate so i can bd on those days until i get a peak-positive).

As far as your luteal phase is concerned..you need to now when you ovulate for sure, i mean more than one cycle and then count the days from ovulation to your af. That's your lp. Also it doesn't change..apart from a day or so whereas your ov can change quite a bit depending on all kinds of factors..stress, illness etc. Thet good thing with knowing your lp is that you will pretty much always know when you come on and thus know when to test. I have a lp of 13 days so whether i ov on cd 16 or 17 i know i will get my af 13 days later.

Semen/sperm does not have any impact on opk's or hpt's as the hormones it detects are not hormones men (naturally, lol) have in their bodies., i.e. luteinising hormone in opk's and hcg (humancorionicgonadotropine), pregnancy hormone in hpt's. Having said that, you can get false reads on hpt's but not on opk's. To have a look at what they should look like and more info on opk's and hpt's i warmly recommend www.peeonastick.com !

I would say if your bd is fine as it stands. Studies have shown bd 2 before ov and on ovulation have the same and the best successrates, both at 34-36%, while bd after ov had a very low chance about 1-2%.

I was wondering the same thing me and the OH dtd last night and i got my first ever line on an opk... could be that I'm actually using a decent brand this time lol. But I said the same thing to the oh this morning... would it give me + ?? he did say no, but then i never listen to him lol. Atleast now i know!

DH's 'lovejuice' won't affect the results of the OPK. Sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days. When you get your period really depends on how long your luteal phase is.

I never thought I would hear myself saying this, but I think I'm a POAS addict I did two yesterday just to make sure that it was actually a line... and now I've done two already this morning in the space of 2 hours... why? Because for the last... 31 days I've been POAS first thing in the morning. The OH kindly pointed out *after he read the instructions* that you "shouldn't use first morning urine as the LH is synthesized in your body"... whatever that means. Anyways, the second one gave me exactly the same result...a line!

Best of luck to you all. I thought we were meant to use the first morning urine, how else does one go 4 hours without a drink?!!! When do you think is the best time to test?
