I'm Currently Feeling:

Mefanamic Acid

I have been prescribed this from the hospital for my painful periods. I've just read on the leaflet that this medication may make it more difficult to become pregnant.

I could cry!!!!

I don't want to take it but it's the only thing that will hopefully help me

Lyrah.... i hve just heard on a DR.s tv show....that calcium can help with period pains.....
Are your pains just bad cramps or do you have another health reason? ie fibrorides( spelling)

Did you tell him you are trying?????

Lyrah I don't know about it preventing pg but I do know that it is amazingly good for bad period pains, I tookit myself for a few months about 10 years ago. Look into it of course but if there is no conclusive evidence that it would prevent conception then I would seriously think about taking it is AF is that bad.

Really??

Nah it's just really bad cramps I get, they're excruciating when I get them and were so bad a few months ago that I went to A&E because I was so worried.. yet they only prescribed me co-codamol..

I haven't told dr I'm TTC no because I'm worried about them looking down on my age and so not helping me as much or saying something like 'you've got plenty of time!'. I want to be treated like any other person but somehow I don't think I will be at 18

But yes, it's awfully frustrating It's so typical!

Ahh thanks Claire! That's good to know

Nothing else has worked for me whatsoever so I'm really hoping that this will.

Awww Lyrah I forgot you were only 18!! I hate to say it but you could be right about them thinking you have lots of time......doctors can be b*ggers sometimes (I work in a hospital, I'm not just randomly slating them!)

Does your GP surgery have a nurse that you can go and see? I think that they are usually more supportive than doctors IMO, might be worth going for an appt with them?

Have you not always had painful cramps then? I almost went to A&E last month because of the pain, it's been this way since my mc in June.....AF is due Friday and I'm absolutely dreading it this month.

Let me know how you get on babe. x x x

Yeah, they tend to be very age discriminitive which is really bad considering I'm an adult now.

Yeah my gp surgery has a nurse I can see.. but she's a lot older and so am worried she will judge me too. Also when I first registered there, I had to see her and she didn't seem all that nice. But I may give it a try.

My cramps haven't always been that bad no.. only since about christmas time last year have they been unbearable.

I'm so sorry for your loss hun

xx
