I'm Currently Feeling:

i remember having them check manually and it did not hurt really...or may be just a similar pain like a tiny ovulation pain...
but it was said to me it's better to do a scan because manually sometimes they can not feel anything like cyst etc...specially if you have a little fat deposit on your tummy
don't worry darling

Suspect it;s too late now and you've already been but....

During an internal exam, the doc inserts 2 fingers in to the vagina. They feel your vaginal walls and the cervix. In the middle of the cervix, they can feel the 'os'. The os is the tiny gap running through the middle of the cervix and is the 'hole' between the uterus and the vagina. Its too small to get your finger through, so they cant put their fingers in to the uterus. (its just big enough for blood to come down and sperm to go up). This tiny os is what stretches to 10cm during delivery to allow the baby out!

Then the doc then pushes up behind your cervix to 'lift' your womb up out of your pelvis (where it normally lives) and uses their other hand to press down on your tummy. They can they feel your uterus between their hands this way and can feel if its normal size, are there any lumps etc

Then then do the same on both sides of your lower tummy and are feeling your ovaries. Sometimes these are too small to feel, but that is ok.

Sorry this is a bit long! and that its a bit late for your appt DaisyDuke.

I have no idea if ive had all that done or not, must have done as the only thing my GP didn't do was the cd21 tests, which i know realise i needed more than anything! I had a couple of internal examinations but had no idea what she was doing, I need to ask more questions!!! i can see a pattern!!!
