When would clomid be prescribed?

Hi Ladies

Has anyone been prescribed clomid?

I have been off BCP since early June and have had two 47 day cycles since coming off. I am thinking of going to the docs to see if there is anything they can do to make my cycles more regular as before BCP they were 28 days and at the moment I am feeling really bloated and uncomfortable for the last 3 weeks of every cycle.

Anyone been to the docs with this problem?

I've been to the doctors with all kinds of cycle related problems and every time told to wait and see for another 3 months, so after they grudgingly did a few blood tests which cam ack in normal range I decided to do something about it myself.

Herbal and homeopathic rememdies have worked well in smothing out my cycles and getting rid of some of my annoying symptoms - bad skin breakouts, insomnia in the week before af.

After 7 years of depo injections and the pill I decided I would try as many natural treatments as possible before putting my reproductive system though any more chemical treatments to give it a chance to recover! I comitted to 4 months of natural only treatment before considering more conventional treatments and got pg in the 1st month, unfortunately it didn't stick but I'm going to give it another 4 months and hope for my BFP.

my friend has just been prescribed clomid but she has been TTC for more than 3 years. they certainly don't hand it out lightly. She had to do rounds of BCP (to try and regulate her cycle), provera (to jump start her period), and metformin over the past year or two before they finally decided to try clomid.

sometimes after coming off BCP it takes a while for it to regulate again. if you went to a doctor now after just coming off BCP in June...they will probably say to wait it out a bit longer. but you never know, your doctor may be of more help. good luck to you!

I agree with Samo, if your G.P is anything like mine they will tell you to give it a year at the very least before the consider treatment.

I'm off the bcp 14 months and its only now anybody is paying me any attention. I had no af for 5 months after bcp, then i had 3 af and then none for another 5months - so although it doesn't feel like it, you're actually quite lucky to have had any af at all. Hope this doesn't sound all doom and gloom- everybody is different. I just found anybody reluctant to help till now.

Fingers crossed for u x

I've just been prescribed clomid after 16 months clear of depo. Cycles didnt' come back until dr gave me provera at month 11 and they've been all over the place and only getting clomid as i'm still not ovulating on my own.
I was fobbed off for months and months - wasn't even given provera until close to a year clear
There are herbal supplements you can try to help regulate your cycle have you tried them?
