Basically the tissue lining your womb is obviously 'juicy bloody tissue'.

The tissue lining your vagina is 'non bleeding stretchy tissue'.

At some point the 'seam' or 'join' of these two types of tissue has to come together. Usually this is in the middle of your cervical canal and so can't be seen by the doctor on examination.

In lots of ladies its lower down and so is visible on the cervix itself. This is called an ectropion (or erosion).

It can therefore cause bleeding (esp after sex) cos the penis jabs away at the cervix and if that has some 'juicy bloody tissue' on it, it bleeds much easier than if it was covered in 'stretchy non-bleedy tissue'. The other time it can bleed is when you have a smear test.

I don't think it should cause any pain though. What did your doc say?

I'v had this twice. Once about 6 yrs ago and again recently. It used to hurt when dh penetrated me deeply (sorry TMI!) and i used to bleed lots after sex. I don't think it would affect your ttc-ing though. I had mine cauterised last time and treated with silver nitrate this time (purely cos the cauterising machine was broken apparently lol). Both times it has cleared it up fine after treatment.
