SA Chat with OH - Advice please?

Hi there.

Just got back from the docs who will now send us through for some tests seeing as it has been over 12 months of TTC.

I'm booked in for bloods on Tuesday, but I need to broach that sensitive subject of OH having his little soldiers testing too. I have a feeling it will cause a negative reaction and I was wondering whether anyone had advice of what to say, how to say it etc or any anecdotes?

Help?!?!?!?!?

I am sure if he wants a as much as you he will do it.. I made my DH do a home test and he was fine with it. It takes two to tango as they say and in this case it takes 2 to make a baby... so just tell him you know he wants a as much as you and to find out if any probs.. he needs to do it.. good luck hun!

i felt really nervous asking my hubby to do is. but i just said the dr's been really helpful and sending me for tests but to avoid delays if and when we're referred she's recommended you do a test too so they'll treat me as soon as they see me

he was fine about it - until it came back that was

I was lucky as my DH was 'up for it' so to speak and didn't mind being tested as he is very keen to start a family and can't understand why it's taking us so long........ Although he was a bit embarrassed about taking the sample to the hospital and handing the pot over

At the end of the day you both need to be tested as infertility can be male or female. Or there may be nothing wrong but without testing you can't be sure, at least if there is a problem then your making positive steps forward to finding some answers and solutions.

Good luck

I'd just tell him it's 'standard procedure' for him to be tested at this time and try and make it seem very routine and not a big deal. Good luck

Huge sympathy just been thro this and he sulked all night. My husband is scared of needles so i asked him if he would prefer a blood test, which made him feel SA wasn't as bad he still ignored me all night. Hope ur DH is more grown up about it.

Oh i also told him that there only testing him cos they think there is a problem with me, and they wont test me any further without knowing he is ok cos after bloods it all gets more invasive.

i said the same as aflight, and i told him that as where we live there is a 6 month wait list would he mind making an appointment for the next available slot so as not to hold up the investigations in me!! i made it sound routine also but unfortunately i broke down and cried!
